Same boat here, Have you looked into shipping costs for different carrier types? I have no idea what the costs will look like and if you have any recommendations for private transporters?

I wonder with my car arriving in Galveston today and me living 8 hours away with no M performance parts to install on how long it will take to get the car on a truck and to my dealer.

My CA said I could be in my car by end of next week potentially. Depends on availability of trucks delivering to Houston and apparently that time frame has been 1-3 weeks, but I think that might have been some expectation setting. Let’s go!!

I wouldn’t be surprised if your CA calls Monday saying your car got dropped off over this weekend

Keep us posted

First, all the cars need to go through an inspection. Then, its a matter if getting them onto trucks to go ro the dealerships. Now with that,it all depends on the truck drivers. This has been an issue for a while. They have a lot of cars to deliver and not enough trucks. Unfortunately, in the trucker's minds (and possibly rightfully so), they dont pay enough so it can be troublesome to find the trucks. It could take a day or two before loaded and driven off and it could be 1-3 weeks, only time will tell.

I actually thought the opposite…. I tried to buy a car from a dealer in Texas that had an M240i on the way that wasn’t sold yet thinking i’d fly down when it arrived on their lot and drive it back home to Ohio. I figured I’d get past the break in period immediately. The deal ended up falling through because they wouldn’t agree to hold it a couple days to give me time to fly down and pick it up. I was willing to put down a deposit and fill out the credit application but they just said they won’t hold a car for out-of-state buyers. They would call me when the car arrived on their lot but no guarantee it would still be there a couple days later when I arrived.

Well there is a company called road runner transport that for $795 will ship it from Mississippi to Ohio, or , for like $400 more I can have it shipped in an enclosed truck

But I just did a quick transporter search to get an idea

When I bought my Jeep in Texas I had it shipped to Ohio for $800

When you think about your time, a hotel room, likely 2 days of your life getting the car, or simply wait in the couch and let them bring it to you, that sounds much better honestly

Well I was actually going to do the same thing when I bought my Jeep out of Texas. Fly down , drive it back. It sounds good on paper until you do the math…..airfare , a day traveling to the dealer, then an 16-18 hour drive back to Ohio ( likely getting a hotel room either before you take the car or after ) and then the fuel costs driving the car home

For me, the $800 to ship and I have all 3 days of my life back, plus it would likely cost $800 between the airfare and fuel or close enough that to me it wasn’t worth it

Yeah, it would definitely be more expensive but the wife and I were going to make a fun little trip out of it.

Floating out there at 2.2knots. Has been in that general position for the last 24 hours (teetering at less than 5 knots the whole time).

Means nothing, just thought it was interesting. A few people I know who were waiting on cars with a SSI POA as well as a few people here updated to Ready for Transport on 8/12

What? Ready for transport means its at the plant, waiting for assignment to go to a port in Mexico.

Fyi, the port they go to in Georgia is Brunswick, not SSI.

Someone better go fix my order then

There are a ton of people who have been at ready for transport in the CA system but Final Assembly in the online tracker. Looks like some of those people heading this way have seen their online tracker update last night or today.

I'm guessing whoever names the ports didn't feel the 5 miles from St Simons Island to Brunswick needed clarification

RCC Tianjin is now headed to Philly which I guess means our cars were offloaded in Baltimore.
If I remember correctly, my g80 took about 2 days to get to the dealership (located just outside of Baltimore). The myBMW tracker did change to "At The Dealership". Took a week for prep before I was notified to pick up.
Of course this was 2 years ago so things might be a bit different.

People need to stop following the web or app tracker as gospel or accurate. You need to work with your CA to get accurate info.

The Tianjin is due into Philly 7 hours after the Glovis.

Yes but BMW calls Brunswick SSI in regards to Port of Arrival. You’re feisty tonight Rob.
