Why are threads being closed or posts being removed???

Is there a reason that one person starts a thread about racing and its fine but someone else starts one and there is a heated discussion about it and it gets closed. I took a lot of crap in my thread about racing on the highway but I had a story to tell, like it or not people want to read about it and reply. I would rather see that 50 people post that I was stupid and lied about how fast I was going (which I didn't and will prove to anyone who wants to see it personally), then to see the thread closed so no one can reply. I can see moving it to the "off topic" section, but there is no need to close the thread all together.

also, why are posts in a thread being deleted without notice or reason??

Is this not supposed to be a site where people can discuss and give opinion, even if that opinion is not agreed upon by all or is that only within what the admins feel is appropriate?

I think this thread should be removed.

I am going to reply.

The mods/admin on this site are unusually nice. They've done alot with this site - and will do anything they can to make this a "nice" forum!
If it's in their best judgement to close a thread that is getting out of hand, or is going no where - then I trust they will make the right call - and you should to.

Not many threads to get closed here (I can't recall ever seeing a locked thread that I wanted to reply to) and only a few get moved into the right section - where one can easily find them.

I thank the mods/admin (Jason and Mark) for doing such a great job!! I can't wait till the sub domains are back up.

Also - if you feel that a thread has been locked, and shouldn't have - I'm sure if you send a reasonable private message to Jason or Mark, stating why the thread should remain open, they will consider it. They are good guys!!!

Yeah, I was just being a smart ass in my previous post, but I agree with everything Broken1 just said.

Cory, your thread was closed because it had spiraled into nothing but personal attacks. It had nothing to do with your original post. The thread is still there for anyone that would like to read about your race against the Lotus - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7474

Also, some posts are being removed from threads...not just mine... one of the ones that I had removed was not close to being as bad as some of the other ones out there still. what are your guidelines for deleting posts?

The guys here do a great job, I don't think that they need to justify what they do to any of us.

They devote tons of time, energy, and I'd assume money too to keep this place going.

This and most forums on the internet are privately owned and run, and the mods are welcomed to run them as they see fit.

I'm just glad that for once I chose to shut my loud mouth in that thread!!

....

I completely agree.

There are other BMW forums, and they are childish, venemous, and commercial. This site is different. I have not read the thread in question, but I have complete trust in Jason and Mark in their taste and discretion regading this site.

I only hope when they start running ads here that they keep it low key and tasteful.

I tip my hat to the two of you.
Thanks again!

-Andy

I think that they are very fair and keep everything under control without censoring everything.

Go mods!
