Just sold my M yesterday and in the market for another car. However, I can't seem decide on what I want. I really like the e39 M5 but it just looks a little too old to me.

On the other hand, I love the 750 but I've heard that they have lots of problems. Any body have any information on these cars? Like what I should look for and their common problems before I pull the trigger on one?

I've also heard that 750's are solid cars unless they're not being driven a lot. In other words, you won't really have any electronic problems with it unless the car just sits.

Any information on these cars would be appreciated. I'm looking for either of these cars because my budget is $20.000 cash and I'm not financing any money.

As much as I love the 7 Series, indications are that it's absolutely insane to maintain them out of Motorplan. Have a met who is struggling with a 2005 7 Series at the moment. Part cost and availability in SA might be different to your location though.

The 2006-2008 7ers had significantly less problems than the 2002-2005 ones do. Maintenance is still a bitch though.
