Next gen A4 has been spied for the first time wearing a significant amount of camouflage.




The test mule seems to be having a lower front and a longer rear, while the exterior mirrors have been entirely redesigned. Also note the line above the door handles seems to be closer to the window frame.

New A4 will adopt an upright "three-dimensional" front grille along with better defined wheel arches.

The next A4 will have to be something really special to stand against the new F30 and C-class. What I really dislike about the A4 is how the roofline stretches back beyond the rear arches. It makes it look really long and out of proportion and for me is much worse than the front overhang. It also looks almost identical to the A6 roofline which doesn't help.

It's only a matter of an inch or two further back. Of those three cars, it actually looks the least awkward of the bunch... but I guess that's why I bought one.

I typically don't care at all for speculative renders which are flat our wrong 99% of the time, but I'm betting that the overall idea of the grille implementation from the bottom render will have some kind of resemblance to the end result. I've been waiting for Audi to implement the 3D grille from that SUV concept for some time now. It's a smart move that falls in-line with current trends.

I hope the new A4 is RWD based. I hate the long front overhang. Other then that, Audi over BMW no, well BMW is still better in handling, if the Audi could be as good. And I know they can, there is no BMW that drives as well as an R8.



Edit: There is still hope the new A4 is RWD based. This is the A6 facelift set for photo shooting. It is not the A4 B9.

Audi still needs to redesign the rear quarter window section on all their cars, that part alone takes the car and singlehandedly changes it from sports sedan to mundane grocery getter.
