That's about the same if you rail off a BMW mirror w/ the electrochromatic glass lol. The housing assembly with fold-in feature is at least $1200 plus the $500 glass plus labor.

I feel your pain. Wife nailed the passenger side mirror on her A7 exiting our garage. I got a similar estimate for replacement from Audi, and decided to dismantle the entire mirror housing myself, purchased replacement glass for around $25 and got to work. A couple of hours later had the entire job done, and spent about another hour working the exterior housing with machine polish and my Flex RA, the result is that you can't notice any of the damage and the mirror works perfectly except that it does not have the "Objects appear closer...." writing embedded in the mirror. As an OCD male, I was quite proud of my accomplishment, however wife hardly noticed. Now she nailed the passenger side front bumper while entering our garage, clear bra did a good job of protecting the paint, however, I will need to strip the clear bra off ($1 000 to redo the Audi front bumper) FML..........
