I've owned two E30 M3s over a 17 year period, an E46 M3 vert, and am the original owner of a 1M.

The sport evo was never brought to the US but it was always a car I wanted to import. At point I actually built a 2.5 with a sport evo head and all the sport evo motor pieces save the block and oil squirters. With a CF intake it absolutely howled when driven hard.

I gave up my E30 M3 for my 1M, and while its not something i necessarily regret , i do wish I had been able to keep both.

The 1M is faster , more powerful, a far better daily driver and sublime in its own right, but not as pure a drive.

Having driven the M2 I can say the same for it versus the 1M.

Perhaps BMW will come out with an M2 that I find truly compelling in the next year or two, but I'm gonna hold onto the 1M. Well unless someone out there wants to trade me their E30 M3 Sport Evo even up....

E30 M3 is where it all started for me for my BMW obsession.

it was my friend's car. I didn't even know what an M was. this car just looked special, sounded special, and drove even more special. few years later I realized it was developed by BMW Motorsport division.

Used to have the 215 hp version with the original 16" BBS wheels from mileage 8.000 miles. Alpine White and w a manual sunroof. My exterior black bumper stripes were replaced w medium blue ones and black headlights. Sharp! Fast! Fun! Stolen....! An friend (of a friend) bought this Sport Evo in black. We drove together. Could neither afford nor sell it back in the Mid90s. Story goes, he lit it - with a match. Aaaaargh!!!!

Remember when they actually did build the "Ultimate Driving Machines"? Those days are loooong gone. There isn't a car in BMW's lineup now that even compares. What a shame.

Miss both previous e30 m3’s I have owned, I still regret back in the summer of 2006 when I sold my 1990 m3 with a built 2.5 engine! It’s totally insane the amount of money these cars are commanding!!
