+1 It's not necessary to take supplements if you're just trying to tone or define your muscles. The body takes in more protein than needed just through regular diets. It does take time for your muscles to grow though. Supplements are for those that want to bulk up quick- bodybuilders and such.

Watch your calories - calculate roughly how many calories you need daily. Use the link below to do so.

http://www.ahealthyme.com/topic/calneed

Shop around the perimeter of the grocery store - avoid saturated fats, processed foods, and sugars, juice, caffeine, and sodas. Eat lots of veggies, fruits, healthy fats, lean proteins (fish/chicken).

Suggestions:

Whey protein if needed- body weight divided by 2.2 = daily protein needed in grams
Glutamine - 5-15g post workout - helps build muscle and keep muscle from breaking down
Norwegian Fish oil or Flax Oil 3x daily - for fats loss and muscle growth
TONS of Water!! - helps remove toxins
Sleep 8-9hrs!! - important
Ramp up cardio - at least three times a week; must be 10 minutes or more of a sustained rhythmic activity
Focus on mass builders (squats, presses, rows, pullups, lunges, leg press)
1-3 sets of 12-20 reps to fatigue
Rest period between sets - 60 to 120 seconds
Don't exceed 5 workouts a week. Keep workouts under an hour. Have a plan.
Im currently taking Green tea ECG and about to run out. Is it worth it to buy more? or is it something i really don't need?

At 18 usually your test. levels are quite high so that makes up for a lot.

krnshinsa, what is Green Tea ESG? BobbyLight, what's good/bad about it?

So I stopped by the Vitamin Shoppe last night after the gym.

Picked up a few things:
Elite Whey Vanilla
Muscle Milk Vanilla
Blender Bottle

I'll let yall know what I think of them after I use them a couple times.

The lady ended up giving me some samples of SuperPump, NO Fire, and Syntha-6 Banana.

I'm not interested in using things like SuperPump and NO Fire, but since they are free samples I will take them once. May as well. When I buy Syntha-6, I buy Vanilla, so Banana should be interesting since I'm not a artificial flavor banana fan.

I'm finishing up a tub of Champion Nutrition, which is Banana Cream (it was on sale last month for a 5lb tub for $31). Couldn't pass it up. It does have good flavor and would recommend it as a brand to try.

From the limited research I've done in EGCG (OP wrote ESG but it's EGCG), it looks like it is a polyphenol with very powerful antioxidant properties. Benefits include lowering bad cholesterol, inhibiting cancer cell growth, a positive effect on abnormal blood clotting, and possibly even the ability to kill cancer cells. It looks like it also may help burn fat as well. EGCG is more for general health rather than performance gains.

EGCG and other beneficial polyphenols are in green tea so you may just consider drinking green tea instead of supplementing solely with EGCG.

Just a suggestion, try Jay Robb's Whey Protein. It is very good tasting when mixed with milk, and it does not have fillers, refined carbohydrates, and fake sugars like MANY of the other why protein products on the market. It is more expensive, but in this case you get what you pay for.

Appreciate the heads up. But like I said, I'll never buy these products. If I get some free samples I'll take them from time to time.

Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about getting some green tea lately.

I've tried Jay Robb's stuff and don't like it. The taste for me is horrible.
