Noob Question: What Desktop to Buy?

Full disclaimer I know nothing about computers so if you could keep that in mind with any responses I would appreciate. Also based on that I am not looking to build my own computer, I would rather buy.

So I am looking at getting into iRacing and Assetto Corsa this winter on PC vice current XBox only. That said I am trying to get budget down so I can afford tires and other parts for an actual race car. Looking at the mid level requirements for iRacing and preferred for Assetto Corsa I found the following entry level PC's at Best Buy:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypow...?skuId=6400462

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpo...?skuId=6400454

Would either one of these be enough for decent graphics and have necessary processing speed? Would you be able to run three screens off one of these or would you need an upgraded graphics card? Other suggestions within a reasonable price range?

I am trying to keep the initial PC price under $1500 and will only be running one screen to start but I would like to be able to run either a ultrawide or triples in the future. Thanks for the help/input.

IMO i'd go for the second one, the processor remains the same but the graphics card is the main difference, being the 2060 super is much better. To run multiple monitors in the future you'll probably need some display port cables or display port to HDMI cables. Most of these PCs only have one HDMI cable.

If you can wait, wait until November or December. Nvidia launched their 3000 series GPUs and they blow any current GPU out of the water, for a fraction (yes, truly a fraction) of the current costs. Pre-builts will start using them once produciton ramps up on those cards.

However, out of the two links you posted above, the second link is much better as the 2060Super>>>>1660Super. Additionally, the 2060Super only has 2 display port outloets/1HDMI, where as the 1660S has 1DP/1HDMI. (so really you can't display to triples ever on these cards).

Also, check out NZXT BLD, they're in the same warehouse as iBuypower in CA and generally have better components and selection of individual components for prebuilts.

Wait 1 month for prebuilts with the next generation graphics cards and get something with a 3070.

I thought one of the benefits of DP outlets is that you can daisy chain them. So tripples off of one port should be possible if your monitors support it.

Agree that OP should wait for the 3000 series cards.

I ran triples 6+ years ago off a 4gb R9 290. Two DP cables, one HDMI cable with an adapter at the monitor.

Maybe the OEM (pre-built) systems won't be affected by the shortage, but it might be hard to find and expensive to get a 3000 series card.

They won't be affected by the shortage, maybe. But the pre-built systems are HORRIFICALLY overpriced. I just saw an ad for one company, systems with a 3080 starting at something like $3299. You can put together an entire computer, rig, triple monitors, and the wheel/pedal setup (Fanatec not Logitech/Thrustmaster garbage), for ~$3500.

You don't need to pay a company HUNDREDS of dollars in labor for plugging components into a motherboard and loading up your OS of choice.

Second computer is the better option. As others have said, if you can wait a few months for the RTX 3000 series cards to show up in pre-builts, it's highly suggested. The RTX 3000 series is much better and as stated already, costs a fraction of the price (RTX 2080 released at $1300, the RTX 3080 released at $700-800 if I'm not mistaken). Even if you got a computer with the RTX 3060 in it, it will perform better than the 2060 and most likely cost a little less (maybe $100-200 less).
