If it's one of last V8's in a small chassis, I think pricewise, they're going to do great. Not just because it's the last V8, but AMG is synonymous with a V8 engine. This would be like M breaking away from the 6 cylinders, would be a sad day indeed.

Can't exactly just scrap a brand new engine with the snap of a finger. I think they very much realized they made a mistake, but what I like about them is that they rectify it as much as possible.

Dealerships couldn't give away the 718 GTS. Friend of mine with a good history with local dealership was offered brand new GTS at a ridiculous price and he turned it down.

It's been years at this point, if they were going to replace all of them with NA 6cyl engines, it would have happened by now for sure.

For Mercedes, yes. The M276 3.0 V6 TT in the C43, GLE400, GLS450 and others shares architecture with the 3.5 V6 NA and is generally reliable. Again, speaking in Mercedes terms, which means average Mercedes reliability is far below industry average. Unfortunately.

Even if the current gen c63 is the last V8 c-class AMG model, I still wouldn't keep one past the warranty period. Too much risk even with proper maintenance.
