Stupid question about the B58
I know the version of the B58 in the new M240 is the TU version with 382hp. I could have sworn I saw a post somewhere on another forum that the VANOS and timing chain were relocated for the TU to resolve having to drop the whole engine out for a service/issue way down the road. Is this true?

Thanks for the question OP, very interested as well. In addition to this, can anyone provide any info on how reliable the B58 has been from other models? Seems to be one of the most reliable engines from BMW from what I've heard..

This is the post I saw on the forums about the timing/VANOS being relocated to front. It doesn't provide any information just a single line I saw when I was browsing. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1598119 (Post #4 and #10) |

It's all still in the back.-- There is nothing new about a major re-design for this power plant at all. No significant upgrade involving major component placement at all. The item I sent is the current geometry that I can find published so far. Others might have insight. Last edited by DSTR; 11-02-2021 at 05:12 PM.. |
