Some very interesting info and revelations there - especially with regards to the leather interior. If you order an ALPINA-specific interior, the leather interior BMW installed is completely scrapped (and recycled).

I watched the whole thing, such a great video !!

I would love to own an Alpina some day - watching the various processes done by all the Alpina technicians is a tribute to serious German craftsmanship.

And the back story of how he came from a family which manufactured typewriters, and then because of the founders passion for cars built Alpina into such a world-class and well known company for 'above and beyond' a standard BMW's is a very interesting aspect I didn't know about before watching the video - you should all watch it, it's very cool!

The amount of money I'd pay to get a legitimately good looking S58-powered vehicle in the states...especially in a touring model.

No one does it like the Germans. Watching the dude move the XB7 around with the electric forklift is legit.

I can't help but think of Sreten's (M539 Restorations) experience with the Project Chicago B7 engine and Alpina... Not great, but Alpina sure is hard to resist otherwise.

Same, I'll check it out over the long weekend. Thanks for posting this OP. I've wanted to own a true-blue Alpina for a long time, I actually like them more than BMWs M cars. My dream is to own a B7.

The B5 is perfection. So, of course we don't get it here in the States.

Meh. If the work they did was so amazing, they'd actually hold better value. It's a stitching and badge exercise. Hard pass.

I'll second this!

I've said it numerous times before.... the B8 is a Yawn fest and lacking in many many ways.

The B7 still has it's place.

If I owned any Alpina vehicle, I would remove the ridiculous Alpina shift buttons they install and put the BMW paddles back in place.

doesn't the diameter of the V8 crankshaft seem smaller than expected ? not that I know much about engine internals.

I've always wondered why there cars don't hold their resale value. Especially considering the low volume.

I can appreciate Alpina's work but I really don't see the appeal. Why turn a supposed performance car into a grandpa luxury cruiser? Sure there's a market for that, but to me the whole point of a BMW is to be a sporty car.
