I am guessing they wanted to create an optical illusion to make the body appear slimmer since the car overall looks stubby unlike e36. The rear end section , rear qtr panel and bumper cover, in the side view image shows how high and akward the body design is especially behind the rear wheel. Also, check out rear wheel front and rear wheel to body gap diff. The larger gap behind rear wheel is awkward.

That back end looks like a bad execution of a knockoff from a chinesse "manufacturer"

Exactly. Just a horrendous design decision that makes them look taller and less sporty because of the illusion of a higher CoG. Ugh.

Beautiful color on this generation just as it was on the F22.
I agree something about the gloss black rocker panel looks off. I much preferred the matte black M Performance decal w/ the subtle "M Performance" logo on the F22. It especially looked good with the body color-matching M Performance side skirts/aero blades underneath. This combination gave the effect of having a more trim side profile, while also not giving it the "floating on a black cloud" look like this new iteration has. Can anyone tell me if the gloss black section is a decal that is applied to the lower part of the door itself or are these just the rocker panel parts underneath? It's hard to tell from the pictures.

Originally when this car came out I thought l it was hideous. I was by my local bmw dealership today and saw one on the lot. Decided to stop by just to take a peek. Now I'm debating on cashing in on my f80 and picking one of these up. Pictures don't do it any justice. Really nice looking car in person

I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of the rear of mine, but the rest of the car makes up for it (to me).
I was rear ended last week and I'll see if I can get the carbon fiber diffuser to make it look somewhat better. |

You got rear-ended already? Sorry to hear that! My car got "minor grille damage" in port, at least you got to drive yours first before it was damaged. Do have an M240? Have you considered having some of the black trim on the rear bumper painted body color? I think that would improve things, maybe clean it up a bit more like the 230.

I have the M240i and I haven't considered that, but it may be something worth looking into. My fear is that what envision may be way off from what the final product looks like. I may just hold off and see what others do before I take a leap. |
