Has anyone fitted a roof rack yet?

My local BMW parts department didn't have any racks in their system for the 2022 M240i "since it's new".

Has anyone fitted one that is for a 20-21 M340i yet?

I think the correct part number would be 82-71-2-457-808

I haven’t but I’m a big fan of the sea sucker. Have used on several other vehicles and they are rock solid. I have one that I plan to use once I have a need.

Here it was on my E92 M3

I've heard great things about Seasuckers; however, I don't really see the need for them unless you have to lug several bikes (or need storage).

If you fold the rear down and take off the front wheel a road bike fits fine. Two sets of skis/snowboards would be no different (along with boots, etc.) I bit with clever adjustment a mountain bike would fit too.

This is for a roof box like in the photo above. A regular crossbar rack is the most cost effective and strong solution for me I think. I'm just trying to find out what people have found that fits.

One reputable parts site lists part# 82-71-2-469-102 as the correct one for the G42.

I obviously have not tested this myself, just happened to stumble across it while shopping for floor mats. So you should double check. Your dealer should have the parts in their system/ETK at this point, mine has been able to look things up for me.

You are right — thanks. That is the correct part number and the other local BMW dealer was able to verify it by VIN. The dealer I went to first wasn't helpful and the guy behind the counter was more interested in talking to his girlfriend 😒

I saw one has it from BMW demo car last month in a north NJ dealer.
Hope you can find it through some dealership.

Are you asking about the box itself? They come in all different sizes. We have a Yakima SkyBox 18 which is 18 cubic feet (about twice the capacity of the M240i trunk). It's overkill for most people but we need the larger one sometimes. It makes some wind noise so get the smallest one you can get by with.

I finally got the rack with that part # and it fits and works fine. The BMW racks are so nicely made.

Rack looks solid, any shots of the whole car with it?

Does it make any wind buffeting noises, etc.?

It does make wind buffeting noise. All the racks I've ever had do. It's not excessive but I wouldn't want to just leave it on there all the time. It's super easy to put on and take off.

That's the only pic I took unfortunately. I took it off after the test fit and drive until I need it.

Is your car white or Brooklyn Grey? Hard to tell with the shadows. Either way, looks great with the tan interior. Is that Cognac?

I have bars from my 2018 330i, trying to figure out if I will need to get new bars for the 240i.
