Good to see this car consistently getting a pat on the back. Looking forward to his M2 comparison video.

Exactly! And the reassurance that it is a great all-round daily driver!

The Audi RS3 is getting very good reviews and seems like a great effort from Audi. And a few reviewers are comparing the RS3 to BMW’s M240i.

IMO that is a false comparison. The RS3’s base price is $10,000 more than the base price of the M240i and the RS3 is the top performance offering in Audi’s 3 series lineup while the M240i is the mid-performance offering in BMW’s 2 series lineup. BMW will have a new M2 out in a few months.

The closer and better comparison would be the BMW M240i versus the Audi S5 coupe. Both are mid-grade, 2-door, performance coupes.

The S5 is too large (and pricey) to compare. I think the M240i is more directly in between the S3 and RS3 in pricing, but performance like 90% of the way to the RS3 (with better MPG and a nicer interior with color options, etc.).

Aside from the extra rear space and engine noise, I see no reason the anyone should get an RS3 over a M240i or M2 for the $ (especially the xdrive models that compete more directly in all climates).

People that like to mod the heck out of their cars, and/or take them to the track, and/or this is a weekender and money isn't an issue. I think those are the ppl that'll opt for the RS3/M's. Budget being a "high but not top priority" the M240 was one of the easiest car decisions i've made in a while

I agree, my original budget was $50k but realizing I'm getting a solid 400+ hp AWD daily driver with B58 reliability, I decided to go for it fully optioned. It didn't take me long to pick the M240 with what else is out there -- it was up against the Audi S3, new Nissan Z, or F80 M3.
