Customers in Mexico are the first in Latin America to receive the all-new BMW M2, manufactured at the San Luis Potosí Plant


The first BMW M2 vehicles manufactured in Mexico were delivered today during an exciting event that took place at the Plant in San Luis Potosí. 15 clients from different states of the republic became the first to receive it in our country. In addition, this model is about to reach the hands of customers who are waiting for it all over the world.

This iconic sports model features an inline six-cylinder engine, delivering 460hp and 550Nm, mated to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which, in turn, connects to the rear wheels. It also combines compact dimensions with an optimal 50:50 weight distribution between the two axles, a classic characteristic of BMW sports cars.

Reiner Braun, President and CEO of BMW Group Latin America commented: “Many thanks to the first customers who bought a BMW M2 without even seeing it before. This is an example of the excellent relationship that BMW has with its fans. The BMW M2 is the ideal heir to the more than 50 years of BMW M history and tradition, the most powerful handwriting in the world. High-performance driving pleasure is present in every part that makes up the BMW M2, and stands out thanks to its six-cylinder in-line engine, rear-wheel drive and ideally compact coupé dimensions. Today is a very exciting day for us, because we can finally share with our first customers the pride that the BMW M2 has been designed by a Mexican, and that it is manufactured by Mexican hands, exclusively for the whole world.”

Receiving a new BMW M vehicle is always a special occasion. To celebrate this event, customers had the opportunity to tour the Plant and enjoyed a driving experience on the test track. In this way, they experienced the origin of the BMW M2 up close and learned how it works, always under the advice of specialists who accompanied them at all times and helped them learn in detail about the high performance of their new BMW M2.

This new generation of the BMW M2 is not only produced on Mexican soil, but was also designed by the Mexican José Casas, Senior Exterior Designer for BMW Design, in Munich. Thus, the new BMW M2 carries our country in its essence. With this vehicle, the San Luis Potosí Plant joins the company's Plants located in Munich, Dingolfing and Spartanburg as the only ones to produce the brand's high-performance division.

With a suggested retail price of $1,730,000 MXN for the 2024 model year, customers can choose from a selection of five available exterior paint finishes, including solid Zandvoort Blue and Toronto Red Metallic, exclusive to this model. The new BMW M2 made in San Luis Potosí reaches a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, making it, without a doubt, one of the most emblematic sports models of the company.

To make the moment more special, the fifteen units that the first Mexican BMW M2 customers received have the signature of José Casas immortalized on a commemorative plaque, located on the center console. In addition, they will receive a sketch of the model, also with the signature of José Casas, and to close with a flourish, the vehicles are accompanied by a personalized cover, which will make these first fifteen BMW M2 delivered in Mexico even more unique.

Among those attending the event were Reiner Braun, President and CEO of BMW Group Latin America; Diego Camargo, CEO of BMW Group Mexico; Hernando Carvajal, Director of Marketing for BMW Group Latin America; as well as Roberto Manzo, Vice President of Assembly, BWM Group Plant San Luis Potosí.

At the end of the event, customers took the wheel of their new BMW M2, with which they already travel the roads of Mexico.
