At some point someone should break the news for BMW that what make M cars more fun is not more power, it’s less weight!

24 Porsche Cayman  [10.00]

This is true marketing genius from BMW. Apparently the M2 already puts out these numbers.

Don’t you just love waiting months for allocation, get allocation, follow build process, watch it cross the Atlantic, then get the call from dealer your car is ready, only to read its already being updated and upgraded.

Love BMW…

So there's never been a fun M car?

There's never been a lightweight M (relative to same-era Lotus and Porsche). The e46 m3 was approx 3400 pounds... 23 years ago! The e92 m3 was, what 3650?

The much lauded F87CS was also about 3400. Not light by sports car standards, also expensive. But was it not fun?

I just do not understand this line of reasoning, I find it confusing.

You can toss the M2 into corners, you can drift it, you can kick the back out at will, you can power out of apexes, why is that not fun. What is fun, if not these things?

If we go by the real life dyno results of the current 453 wheel Mexican horse power, 475 sounds even wilder.

Nice bigotry you got there.

I round my numbers. "475" doesn't mean exactly 475. If you see a couple hp difference with some official number elsewhere, assume they're actually the same.

The extra power is not coming from a recuperation system.

The new wheel option is just a different color of the same wheel style.

I wish they'd hurry up and announce the M2 Comp with Xdrive!!

First, so I can order it. Second, to watch all the boomers lose their mind about how its not longer a drivers car and yadda yadda yadda.

I did not say not fun, I said less fun. I had more fun with my E90 m3, i did not enjoy My M5, too heavy and too much power, im enjoying my current I8, balanced power and weight.
My best experience was with 1M in 2011, i drove it on the track in 2011. Brilliant car.
Previous m2 was a fun car, and im getting the new m2 next month. Hopefully it will be close to the previous gen M2.

Is power actually increasing from the first model year or are they simply rating the same engine higher as we all know based on Dyno’s that it was higher than stated?

Is there an actual change to the engine to produce more or it’s just a clerical alignment to the reality of the existing engine?

No I agree with you I’m being facetious. People have unrealistic expectations of modern cars.

It's not bigotry, the horses are indeed different, they use different fuel and they have superior tacos.

Don't be mad you have to settle for Chipotle.

The MY25 M3 and M4 LCI will definitely get more power. There is no way the base M2 will have more HP than those cars.Definitely worth waiting only a year for this upgrade.

Thank you for clarifying!

Now the most obvious question is can Model Year 2023 get this tune from BMW for free or at a cost?

I, for one, would pay a subscription fee if they download a "tune on demand" app into Idrive 8.
