I was going to post my impressions vs F87 after 850 miles, but I can post this part here.
I find this car is far easier to drive in sport+ than my F87. I often had a hard time pulling out and shifting to 2nd smoothly in the F87. I've had no trouble with this car. I wish I could describe how I do it, but I can say for sure that I'm hard into the throttle before I'm done letting out the clutch.

You can't put the engine in sport or sport plus and have smooth shifts driving in any conditions. I lucked out one time and I'll never forget it.
It has to be in efficient, or like you said, you wait 1-2sec to let the clutch out. I hate to say this but the manual is a bit of a turd. I'm sure it's fine when you're pushing and alone, but god help you if a woman is in the car and doesn't want her breasts bouncing every shift. |

I had no problems.
I'm no longer interested in "upgrading" my shifter, either.

Very good points here so far! In my 6MT, I always keep the engine in sports plus for the exhaust noise. 1-2 is a pain, but with my girlfriend in the car, I let first gear settle (no acceleration) and then shift and it doesn't have a jerky motion. It's not ideal for acceleration but it's what I found to be smooth so far. I got 2500 miles on my car and still learning it.
One thing I do like about this "rubbery" shifter is that I have yet to mis a shift or grind gears. In my Honda S2000 it was fighting a war trying to get 1-2 shifts especially during a race and high RPMs. |

Is the jerky similar to the E46 M3 "bucking bronco" type effect?

I have one in both my cars and they do make a tremendous difference IMHO. I’ve also done CDV deletes in a couple of past cars and could detect ZERO difference.
There’s s an Ebay guy who sells them for $15 shipped. Search for “BMW clutch stop”. I think he’s in San Jose. |

Metal innards and the stem fits in a lot easier. The BMS one is really impossible to fit in and the discs are all made of foam meaning they deteriorate.
it doesn’t mention g8x but it fit in my g80 perfectly Can’t post eBay links but I’ll send it to whoever if you just message me |

I've definitely found the same thing, just finished my break in service last Saturday and even for casual driving the S+ throttle response makes it much much smoother from 1-2 specifically. And the clutch stop helps loads.

I've tried to live with this transmission for almost 6 months now!
It's the same one in the E46 I've adjusted the following and it is SO MUCH better; 1. Rouge Engineering SSK 2. Rouge Engineering G series Rear shifter bushing replacement 3.CDV Valve removal The first two take away most of the play in the shifter and gone is that unsure rubbery feeling. Gear engagement is great, shifter movement is like a rifle now, things slide and lock into place better than they did. There are a lot of soft rubbers used on the existing hardware that feels clunky, lethargic, and dated. This allows you to have a bit more confidence and enjoy ringing through the gears (IMO). The CDV Valve is interesting and helps with that 1-2nd shift. Doesn't fix it, but it helps. There is always rev-hang 1-2 on the manual cars that can attribute to that "clunky" feeling. Gear changes feel like they can happen much quicker now. After Mpact I'll do a review and summary. Last edited by Click_ID; 08-08-2023 at 02:34 PM.. Reason: grammar |

My main issue is I can't shift as fast as I want with the OEM shifter. HOPING the Rogue SSK address this. |

I can barely drive the car in normal mode, I always have it in sport or sport+. The throttle response in normal is too weird for me, I either don't give enough or too much.
It's really easy to get super smooth shifts in sport. You have to remember that while the clutch has a really long travel the engagement point is actually very low. |

Install a clutch stop. Game changer.
Ordered a 12 Euro Clutch Stop from eBay, through seller 55parts. Solid transaction, clutch stop measures 12mm and is easily installed. Super positive clutch engagement, with significant travel reduction. Overall very pleased with the mod.
