Can someone tell me what services BMW locks behind the subscription ?

I placed an order for an M2 today. This is my first BMW ( please give me a break if I sound dumb ) and part of me is thinking I purchased too much car...anyways.

I read online that BMW locks some features behind a subscription service. I asked my sales rep and he said it's only map updates. I googled online and it looks to be more than just map updates. I've never owned a BMW so the service names are kind of confusing to me.

Is this something that I should be worried about?

Are any key features locked on the M2?

Is the subscription inexpensive?

Most of these come with the car, some of them expire after 4 years included with the price of the car. Remote Engine Start is an example of a one-time purchase that doesn't come with the price of the car.

I think after the first 4 years, you will not have the Connected Drive Services, navigation maps updates etc. The traffic camera location was only a few months free as far as I can remember.

How much does it cost you to maintain the subscription? Also, do you like this vehicle? this will be the most expensive and hardcore car I've owned.

I have no idea what most of these services are, even after reading them on the site.

Like mentioned, most come with the car for the warranty period. After that I believe you may have the option for subscription or one time purchases.

Yes, the M2 is a great performance car.

What is the main reason you would go M2 over M240i ?

I don't track cars ( currently ) but I started wondering after ordering if it's worth saving 11k and just getting the little brother. You lose a little horsepower but I don't see much else.

Again, I've never owned a BMW so forgive my nativity.

Also, regarding warranty.

you get the 4yr 50k bumper to bumper AND the 3yr 36k maintenance warranty included ?

So 2 separate warranties

I had a M240i for a loaner for a couple days and also test drove an M340i. I just wasn't really impressed with them over the standard 230/330i. A caveat is that I've always pretty much had high performance vehicles and my current stable includes a 680 hp supercharged Z06 & my wife's '22 X3M Competition. My daily driver had been a '22 330e which I purchased to save $ on my commute. It was a great car for 31k mi but just wasn't fun enough.

Was considering a CPO M3 or M4, but for the same price or less I could get a brand new M2. I currently have 7,963 miles on my M2 since end of November.

Oh okay, Thanks for the information. The most performance-oriented car I've owned was a 330HP Mustang. There are a lot of cars I like in this pricing segment so its made a decision hard.

I too am unclear on this. A quick Google search seemed to imply it was $150-ish a year, but I can't find an actual official order sheet.

I love the M2. Incredibly planted and agile. The M240 is a fine car, but doesn't have an MT option; that was a deal breaker for me.
