At least it has a B58 & ZF8 in it, so familiar to BMW drivers.

Let us know how you like your Grenadier. Wonder if the BMW dealer will do oil changes and the like on it .

I hope Ineos can be successful, but it is a tough market with the new Land Cruiser/4Runner, new Gwagon, plus the Wrangler, Defender, Bronco.

My BMW dealer will be servicing it. The selling dealer is 1800KM away. I was happy when my BMW service manager offered to take care of it.

Well the Shift Position Sensor can’t tell what gear you’re in. And it keeps trying to rev match or cut throttle. It did it at highway speeds. I’m surprised it didn’t destroy the clutch. So no we wait for a transmission.

What if you turn off rev-match? Can you still drive it normally?

Nope, even with rev match off, the sensor would detect neutral and start to cut the throttle at speed. It is not driveable at all.

Damn. That actually sucks. They can't service the sensor?

The sensor isn’t the problem. It’s internal. There must be magnets on the shift rods. Whatever the case they tried a sensor. That made it worse.

Depending on your work, you might like the Ineos a lot if the routes involve plenty of off-road. Had a reservation previously and got to drive one in March '23 at a SoCal off-road park (only off-road, they didn't allow for on-road trips).

I was very impressed with the approach/depart angles, just as good as a JK, and the suspension was so well-mannered and I believe it's tuned more for off-road, the chasis and structure were very solid, no creaks at all; too bad I couldn't test how it behaved on-road, but there got to be a compromise.

As much as I like how the last gen Defender looks, I ultimately pulled my reservation because I was concerned with the limited network, but more importantly, how quickly can the electronics be sorted out. For now I will stick with the FJ and 4Runner.

As for the company, it is quite impressive that a non-automotive company brought the Ineos to market.

Hope the dealer can sort out the transmission soon. Good luck.

My work takes me off road a lot. This will be replacing my Gladiator. So I don’t expect stellar road handeling. I’m an abatement Falconer. I often work in tough spots in vineyards, blueberry fields, farms, and generally tough spots to get to. I don’t expect the best driveability. But this is my more reasonable alternative to restoring a Defender.

Wow, unique skill set there. Hope the Ineos do as well as she looks, really want to see a wider support network.

Staying on track, still following your transmission issue.

It’s certainly a unique job. And I’m very lucky to do what I do. I’ve been fortunate in my life. And I try and pay it forward as much as I can. I teach school kids about birds of prey, I work with watershed groups and summer camps. I try and help the wild birds of prey as much as I can. I’ll keep everyone update in the transmission issue.

It’s a modern version of a Land Rover Defender 110.

That has to be the best job ever. I have a JL Rubicon, but I don't care for all the noise potential leaks and lack of rigidity that comes with the removable roof. I wanted a modern day WJ (my first Jeep), so the Grenadier was somewhat appealing - but I just can't deal with the potential lack of reliability - owning the Jeep is pain enough.
