You still need bimmercode since the car has to be instructed it's Li-Ion instead of AGM.

Not sure I follow, are you asking if the battery will get recoded? If so, the answer is no. Only time a battery gets registered/coded is after it's been replaced otherwise there's the potential to overcharge it and degrade its life or in the worst case it may explode.

Back on topic: It's good to know that BMW was a little conservative with their initial weight estimation figures previously quoted for the G87 M2 in various specs. Just like their estimated HP & TQ figures, BMW is being a touch on the cautious side & under rating things. But in this case, they're over padding things a bit. But that's maybe a good thing as we're pleasantly surprised by the numbers trickling in.

I know zero21 mentioned a while back his weight savings on the 827M’s weren’t as much as claimed by BMW.
I weighed my 827M’s out of the box, then weighed my 930M’s on the same Renpho scale (I weighed each wheel 3-4 times at different angles on the scale to make sure I was getting a consistent weight each time). Both the 827M’s and 930M’s weighed exactly what BMW said they would (for the 827M’s it was 23.8 lbs/front and 24.2 lbs/rear). It was exactly a 21 lb savings overall, just as expected. |
