Full exhaust system without CEL

Can you do a full exhaust system without throwing a CEL? Like at least a cat-back -- not necessarily the downpipes. These cars have the extra OPF's in them -- does removing those throw a code?

Yes, you can do a catback without a cel.

You can check out LEIB Engineering (https://www.leib-engineering.de/opf-...-m3-g80-g81-de), they offer OPF deleter kit for G80/G82/G87 that handles both CAT and OPF.

I believe you are in the USA? If so the then yes, you can do our midpipe and axle back system without any cel issues.

Downpipes are the only part that will cause a cel issue without a tune but there are ways around that as well.

only some euro cars have the extra opf, US cars dont use OPF

as long as you dont mess with the downpipes, you wont get a CEL

What about GESI downpipes? Dont want to tune my car because don’t want to void my warranty.

Tune in itself does not void warranty.

So would you be able to answer this question for me then?
I’m looking to make my car extremely loud haha. I have already made up my mind for equal length midpipe and axel back from active autowerke.

So let’s talk about downpipes, catless would be the loudest option but produces a CEL that is why I was looking at AA gesi catted downpipes. If I could go catless and it produces a CEL and I tune the CEL out. What type of tune would I need? And not to void warranty.

Also deciding if I wanna get Active autowerke GESI catted downpipes because they are like $4400 and midpipes & axelback are $7200 it’s like half of the midpipe and axelback combined.

* something about o2 spaces to take out CEL?

First, the besting the dead horse is regard a "tune voids your warranty" which is not a correct statement.

Back to your question...loudest exhaust would be catless downpipes, catback valved exhaust system (my personal preference would be Valvetronic or Fi...or the soon to be released AWE), and a tune.

My recommendation would be catted highflow downpipes (I recommend Evolution Racewerks...their is 200 cell), catback valved exhaust system (my personal preference would be Valvetronic or Fi...or the soon to be released AWE), and a tune.

I know people do it but I am not a proponent of downpipes without a tune.

Has everything to do with downpipes. Worthless upgrade without a tune. And it kills any CELs.

The two go hand in hand.

Sorry but JB4 can't disable the code. It can clear it but will still keep coming back. Need to tune it off through the ECU.

I also can't rightfully recommend a piggyback but that is a whole different subject which I am not getting into again.

Wow, yep you’re right. Need catted DPs or a tune, like you said.

Why am I remembering in my 135i I never got CELs with the piggyback. I had catless DPs on it.

Do the high flow cats (like 200 cell) throw a CEL? I’m interested in going with downpipes, high flow cats, and AWE exhaust. Of course I will also tune, but unsure on which so far. Leaning towards Carbahn stage 2.

Yes, they will. Your tuner can disable it.
