Dodged a bullet (well, Tornado....)

Not sure this is the proper place for this. Mods feel free to move post if there's a more appropriate place for it.

Early May 26 (early means just before 2am...) Benton County AR -- I live in Benton County) was hit by several (I think 3 or 4 total) tornadoes.

Fortunately for me (and my sister who lives near by) the tornadoes missed us. Unfortunately the tornadoes didn't miss everybody. Think 5 were killed in Benton County and one person was killed in Boone County which was also hit by at least one tornado.

Straight line winds were very high. 5 miles south of me at the NW Regional Airport wind gusts were 56mph. I read in some areas wind gusts were 90mph.

Given the number of trees with limbs torn off or trees simply blown over I'd say 90mph is believable.

Neither my apartment or my sister's apartment suffered any damage. We didn't even lose electricity. We did lose internet service which was only restored about 7:30pm last night.

Oh, both my cars rode out the storm/winds in their garages. Sister's X4 was safe and sound in her garage.

Some pics...

Tree limb down right outside my living room window.

Tree smashed a carport.

The aftermath.

Not photographed the vast number of trees down. Due to various storm damage with blocked roads and such had to detour through downtown Bentonville to get home and drove on Central Ave. West of downtown trees were down on both sides of the road. Little trees and big ones. Trees not down had one or more limbs down.

Rogers suffered severe damage. Went to the Barnes/Noble bookstore in Rogers yesterday. Store closed due to lack of electricity. Major intersection traffic lights either flashing red or just dark. And some drivers consider dark traffic lights to be green lights and race through the intersection. Shades of the aftermath of the Loma Prieta earthquake and dark lights at some intersections on my way home from work at the Moffett Field naval base in Mountain View and my place in San Jose.

Because of such severe damage in Rogers streets were blocked so didn't even try for pics.
