Radar Mount

I have seen others install the Uniden R8 mount and wired it to the rearview mirror. I thought that looked much better then the cigarette lighter setup.
And now that i accidentally shorted the cigarette lighter by dropping a screw in it , it would be nice to have this done while i figure out replacing the fuse.

I got to the point of removing the shroud, but i couldn’t figure out how to remove the wire clip. I finally lost patience in my sauna of a garage and put it back together.

Any advice on removing the connector? Im guessing i should patch onto the actual mirror connector, though i see the windshield rain sensor seems like it is under there too.
And once removed, does anyone already know the wire to patch off of, or i can just use my multimeter to look for the 12v (DC?).

Check out this link, showing which connector at the mirror is used.

No install pics but I did YouTube “G80 Uniden Install” since the G8X platforms all share the same mirror tech.

Super easy install- I highly recommend calling up Blendmount and getting the right size taps for the Uniden vs getting them on Amazon. They seem to be much better quality and fit like a glove. I believe they give you 4 pairs and the 2nd to smallest fits.

PM me if you have any questions, I can walk you through the process if you need more info

Thanks everyone it turned out well!

I tried pulling the connector out, seemed like i was going to rip some wires, so i stopped. It was pretty easy to jam the probes in anyways.
Also noticed the windshield wipers go on when i stuck in each probe; but it looks like everything is working (radar, garage door opener, windshield wiper).

^ Is there seriously no way to suck that thing up closer to the mirror?

Is that the proper Blendmount for the G87?
