I don't know. The RS3 is a faster zero to 60 and 1/4 mile car according to Car and Driver. I could get see the M2 winning from a roll race however. This video along with another one I saw where he raced someone's M4 comp (where the driver of that M4 didn't really know what he was doing) doesn't build credibility for me as a viewer. Whatever, I don't really care. I just hope to see a video of him losing to another car someday or else I will just see this as cherry picking.

Not much cherry picking. The RS3 got the launch by a long shot and the M2 reeled it in, and then some, bigly.
What he’s not telling us is he’s Stg 2.

Seems like the RS3 has not so great thermal management. It's one of the things I like about the G series cars and why I don't complain too much about the weight, some of it is going to robust cooling. I've been pretty surprised at how little performance drop there is in 90+ degree temps.

I’ve driven both for a considerable amount of time (being in the car industry) and chose the RS3. Why? It’s lighter, looks better (according to me), dual clutch, the extra room, rarity and the 5 cylinder. Now, I can completely understand the potential of the S58, which is endless.
However, I’ve spent $2k on intercooler, JB4 (map 5 e30 with 93 octane), intake, turbo inlet and it’s allowed me to pull on my best friends g80 comp with catless downpipe by a car. However, what I’m really benefiting from on this setup is the exceptional gas mileage and comfort. I do not plan to track my car and I live in Houston, no twists nor swirls. I came from a 718 Cayman GTS FBO and although I respect the potential of the G87, I am content with the RS3 for now. It’s far better than its predecessor in every way shape and form. - Elvin |

^^^ Interesting perspective. I took a very (very) brief look at the RS3 and came away with the complete opposite feelings.
1. It's a very plain & unattractive car. Looks more like a Honda Civic. 2. I just don't care for the way Audis drive. 3. 5-cylinder engine. Really, who wants a 5-cylinder? Coming from only owning 8 cylinders in my performance cars, a turbo 6 was tough (still have a supercharged v8 when I need that rumble). 5-cylinders seems like something for a teenager. 4. Rarity - the G87 is pretty rare still. I've seen 1 other in the 9 months since I picked mine up. The RS3 looks like a regular Audi sedan driving around, nothing looks like the G87. 5. Gas mileage - I'm averaging 29 mpg highway, well above what BMW advertises. I don't think these two are direct competitors, but I'm sure some will cross-shop. Tbh, nothing Audi has currently excites me.

RS3 screams Jetta. Boring and also dislike how Audis drive.
Looked hard at them and did some test drives. Couldn’t do it. Something very special when I saw n test drove the G87. RS3 disappeared completely.

The reverse offset irks the hell out of me. Probably irrational but I don't care.
Thats why I wouldn't buy one. |

There's a solid 5 or 6 mph difference between the cars by the quarter in favor of the G87. That's a lot on the top end. It's pretty evident that if you the harsh AWD launch out of it, the G87 is significantly faster than the RS3 in a straight line. With normal tires, it's also significantly faster around a track and dynamically substantially better (RWD vs FWD). The RS3 has it's strengths but I wouldn't put it in the same category as a M2, it's really more of a alternative to a 240i, but for some reason (marketing I take it), priced like an M2.

I learned how to drive manual in a girls VW Jetta. I also owned a Wolfsburg edition rabbit when I was in school. VWs are nostalgic for me.
I would still buy the all-wheel drive R. The only Audi I would buy is the TT but not with my money. |
