Cup holder relocater thingamajig for 6MT
To all the fellow 6 MT drivers, I am looking for some kind of accessory that would tension into the passenger cupholder and have an arm that has a cupholder I could move into the passenger area next to the center console.
I need about 20oz of caffeinated bean juice to survive, and any travel mug that is skinny enough is usually too tall and hits the few climate control buttons and I do not want something rubbing on them. Anything wider interferes with shifting into fifth gear. Can anyone recommend something that works for them? I made the crudest drawing imaginable of what I am looking for. I would rather have something in the center console than a completely watertight thermos that would go in the door pocket.

The spacing on the 6MT sucks, everything is pushed more forward and I also found I can no longer use a Yeti tumbler, it either rubs against the face of the defroster button or that I would knuckle it while going into 5th.
I have since switched to a Zojirushi 20.3 oz slim one and place a silicone band around where it meets the defroster button. Would love to see a better solution. |

That shouldn't be too hard to 3D print if anyone on the forum has skills there. I have one but skills is the question. HAHA
Also this is the same issue I have with my 15 M235 6MT.... I just don't use them anymore.

YES! I want/need one of these also and ASAP. Definitely for passenger seat as noted in pic above. Anyone have any ideas or using one that fits and works?

FWIW i switched to these in the 20oz size which fit well, i put it in the passenger side holder and just push the shifter from behind to get into 3 or 5: https://rticoutdoors.com/Tumblers |

Maybe some maniac on Etsy can carve me something out of wood or machine it from metal. It would seem pretty simple to have the side in the couple holder be made of a material with sufficient weight to counterbalance the cupholder hanging over the passenger floor area. Sadly with no rear cupholder in the G87, I think I'm going to be stuck using a leak proof thermos that fits in the slanted door bottle pocket.

Agreed, but the coffee has to make it to work somehow. The heathen coffee establishments by work understand nothing of how coffee should taste.
I see 3d printed examples for other car models.

I made this after the first time I hit a drive through in the M2:
I used one of these from Amazon: To make something like this: I used a piece of 1/8" plastic sheet. Make a long piece about 3" wide that's tall enough to slide under the center console plastic and sit on the floor next to the mat. Cut another shorter piece about 3" wide to mount the cup holder on, then attach it to the long piece at the proper height. I'll probably eventually get a metal plate to make better looking one, but for the 60 minutes it took me to throw this one together, I like it.

I use a press-to-open tumbler for coffee that fits in the door (cup) pocket. I stick to bottles that fit the door and don't put anything but a can in the console cup holders.

That is similar to what was used in the 1M and later E82/E88. Except that it was not removable once installed, as I understand it. My 2008 E88 did not have this. You might look at the Z4 forum for the solution one member came up with. Won't fit your original criteria, but maybe changing your criteria a little will get you where you want to be.

I use the leg extension in the passenger seat to put my 20oz coffees, though it spills sometimes when going around turns quickly. Can't use cupholders because I put French fries in the left one and the right one is my ashtray
In seriousness though, I use one of those 17oz steel bottles with the tapered top and screw cap, they do not touch the climate control. Just ordered another one from s'well with a flip-up cap, going to see how that works since unscrewing it kinda sucks while driving. None of my usual cups (Yeti etc) fit. |

You smoke and eat fries in your M2? And your drinks routinely spill on your seat?
This thread is worthless without pictures. We need pics of all of this.
