I remember a Dukes of Hazard moment I witnessed a few minutes after it happened. Dude had his STI doing about 90mph through a residential area and there was a massive dip that I thought everybody knew about.
He hit that dip, blew out all of his suspension, wheels, engine, radiator and ended up fully airborne over 8-10ft in the air and flew quite a ways into some poor dude’s fence and backyard. Truly impressive feat. I saw oil, coolant, car parts and steam billowing and pulled over to check it all out. Not a good day for anybody, lol. I did not have a smartphone back then, or else I would’ve taken tons of pics and posted them.
I cannot imagine the police report / insurance adjuster/policy etc. Probably got a careless+wreckless ticket combo out of that one.

Think of the dudes yard. He would have to get everything replaced. I like to keep my lawn nice and clean so if someone crashed into it, there would be a ton of money spent by their insurance to get it back to 100%.

I had a carbon one installed yesterday. Mainly went for this due to the weight - weight less than a kilo

Off topic question because this thread has the best photos for my question - can someone confirm the large circular area behind the oil cooler screens in these pics (has a big circle hole in the middle of it and 8 small holes around it and has a specific cut out from the aftermarket protection in the picture above this post) is the center jack point for the car?

Yes, that's it. You need to make sure that your car is on level ground. Be sure to use jack pad adapters for the jack stand points behind the front wheels.

Think you missed installing the two large bolts. Without these bolts it's only held up by the body screws.

Info@mad-us.com, Missing the installation of bolts is an example of why you need to include instructions. I could have done the installation in half the time had instructions been included. Instead, I was left to figure it all out as I went. I had no idea that the piece on the front of the radiator had to be removed until I searched the internet to figure out why the skid plate wasn't fitting properly. Why are body screws included that are not needed? Are they a bonus just in case some of the factory ones get broken? What is the proper torque setting for the screws? This is pretty critical when screwing into plastic. I could go on, but the bottom line is that good instructions need to be created and provided. BTW, I'm very satisfied with the quality of the skid plate.

The person i'm quoting did not install a MAD oil cooler shield it's another brand I was just trying to help him out.

I Agree We should of got the install guide out faster and we are currently working on it.

There is no torque setting for body screws just hand tight.

$160 AUD on eBay. No need to spend more. Also (another option), after removing the plastic cover, there is an option to put a mesh protector under the existing plastic frame to cover it without compromising the cooling etc. It does press against the cooler but if you get strong enough mesh it will do the job. Worked for me so far. Will do this on my new 25 LCI.

Sorry, I missed that. Nice of you to help him out.

Literally every screw on a car has a proper torque setting. My daughter's hand tight is different from my hand tight, which is why torque settings are important. I'm not saying that it's easy to get such information, but I guarantee you that the torque setting is available for those who setup the tools on the assembly line and for those at BMW who make repairs.
