I was settled on the M2 and was planning to order in December-January.......until last weekend when I test drove the Giulia Quad. That car drives like Cayman GTS 4.0 with four doors. Never felt such good chassis control in a sedan before. I remember test driving the G80 M3 and I didn't even like it. Quad however was stellar but no sunroof and only dark interior (black).

So now its between Quad and M2
You didn’t like driving the G80? G80s/G82s drive freakin great.
If they didn’t have buckteeth, I might’ve bought a G82 vs G87.

Can you feel that? The inevitable forum descent into arguing the pros and cons of the QV? Again...

Disclaimer: I got no dog in this fight. Since QV lacks a MT variant, it was never an option for me.

G87 is the best bang for the buck out there. Huge bonus points for it being available in manual as well.

Go test drive a G80 M3 and a Giulia Quad, then let us know

From my multiple test drives: Quad>M2>M3.

I drive a GTS 4.0 and Quad drives more like Porsche than BMW.

Regarding manual vs auto, I'll be getting an auto so doesn't matter to me. They are all on the same ground in that regard.

Driven many G80s/G82s. Never driven a Giulia Quad. I’ll have to check one out.

EDIT: Nevermind. Shit reliability and 2024 is last year in the US - no thanks. That was quick.

Now it may sound crazy to compare 911 to an M2 but both are two door, 4 seater high performance cars with ability to get a sunroof (a must have for me). I also prefer the looks and interior of the 991.2 over 992. Even though I am on the list for a 992 at a local dealer I keep looking for a 991.2.

M2 fully loaded the way I want would be less than $68K and a lightly used CPO 991.2 (S or 4S) would be around $120k. I know M2 is heavier but it drives very well and planted. I like M2 and prefer it's looks over the ugly M3/M4. I have driven 991.2 in S model also but not right after the m2 and it drove well also. My cayman GTS 4.0 drives better (and more fun) than both but I think I am used to driving it daily thats why? Very likely!

I had initially ordered a Z4 M40i in frozen gray to pair my sport garage with Cayman, scheduled to come end of next month but now I feel I may not use the convertible functionality very much so probably won't take delivery of it. So a 4 seater coupe it will have to be.

I don't track but I am a decent spirited driver. What would you pick over these two? With M2 I save $45K. Even when money is not that much of a big issue, M2 is very tempting car with savings. Anybody has both or experience in driving both extensively?
The M2 is a great bargain and I love it. With that said I've been looking for something different, such as 992.2 GTS, RS7 performance, M8 gran coupe, or possibly new M5. The Porsche is still on my radar even though I want 4-doors now.

My current M2 experience:
What I don't like
1. Hard plastics everywhere. This stuff scuffs by just looking at it.
2. I hate how the s58 sounds. Valvetronic is the closest to sounding good, but the s58 in general just has some really crappy sounds to it ( I wish it sounded closer to the GT4)
3. I planned on modding and tuning the car, but the ECU lock and how the car sounds with downpipes are turnoffs.
4. I'm a bit annoyed that Zandvoort Blue, which I have, is not M2 exclusive anymore.
5. The brakes are really squeaky.
6. There isn't much room in the back for my daughter who likes to take trips with my wife and I.

What I do like
1. It makes a great daily. I like in comfort the transmission is smooth, but you can set how hard it shifts in your M buttons. Between setting 1-3, it either shifts faster/harder or slower/smoother.
2. The stock seats are great
3. Dash screen is great
4. I like the unique look of the M2 and how it is differentiated from the rest of the lineup
5. At 6'3, it's easy to get in and out of with the long doors
6. Carbon roof is a must.
7. Gearing in the auto pairs really well with the s58.

2017 and 2018 models were bad. Reliability afterwards is actually pretty good and no worse than a BMW or Porsche. Check out Giulia forums.

Haven't driven 992.2 GTS. 991.2 GTS looks better; feels a bit more mechanical and Porsche like than 992s. M8 Gran coupe is an aggressive elephant but in a bad way, in my opinion. New M5 is cartoonish. Haven't driven RS7 but won't consider it.

You may as well get their new Taycan, 4 doors and arguably drives better than 992. Even better their new Macan EV in Turbo form. Macan EV in Turbo still around $120K.

1. I don't know to what hard plastics you're referring. I have 12,700 mi & not a scuff in the interior to be found.

2. Change the brake pads, problem solved.

3. It is a coupe, though my 15 yr-old son who's 5'9" with long legs & size 12 shoes seems to fit back there without complaining.

I don't think the Giulia is any better from a materials standpoint, and, imo from the exterior looks pretty cheap compared to the M2. A neighbor has one and it even with a carbon fiber rear spoiler, front lip, etc., it reminds me of an Altima or Camry. But it's a good thing to have choices.

Alfa QV is awesome..
I had a 2018 QV. I did back to back test drive with F80 M3 same day I took home the QV that night. The car it self has soul. But I personally got bored with flappy paddles, near end of lease. LOL. And the New G80 was out with manual. got it. great car. lease up on it. I had my eye on 991.2 T for some time. WOW. a porsche is porsche. no substitutes. but at $110k for 2018 car. was worry with needed porsche tax fund.
Went back to G87 m2 manual. at half its price. with factory warranty. it was a no brainer.

Especially when my better half say with new lease I can write off business tax. got to luv her.

Would I buy a QV again? car itself, yes. But long term., more worry about warranty issues. and dealer is limited, probably not. Last Year of QV models.

Highly recommended, except when one is waiting on backordered brake pads because the stock ones can't get wet or they fuse to the rotor and the other has 2 screws in 2 tires, also backordered...sometimes your children own you!

I agree on the 992.1 vs 991.2. In fact, I owned a 991.2 GTS Targa, then got a 992.1 and sold it back only to end up with a RWD 991.2 GTS. I feel it’s a better sports car for me..

The bottom half of the door, middle console, and foot-well are all cheap hard plastic, which can be scuffed pretty easily. I keep my car meticulous, which is why I put a clear bra on the bottom area of the doors. Overall, the rest of the interior is fine, but again that's something I noticed and didn't like. You being oblivious to that doesn't change that.

Not sure how you're son not complaining changes the room issue I'm having, but I will let my daughter know that some guy on the internet said otherwise.

I'm not oblivious to the use of plastics in the interior, I just don't scuff them. Unless your daughter is taller than 5'9", I'm sure she has plenty of room back there. Guess you can keep whining about these non-issues, take steps to fix your complaints, or sell the car.
