Perhaps the wipers are a bit old and hard/dry? Try buying new wipers/blade inserts or perhaps rejuventate them with a plastic/rubber protectant/conditioner like 303 aerospace. Apply and let soak in.

The technician in safelite recommended me not applying rain resistant coating when I replaced the windshield over there. And I went with his recommendation.
