Should I buy, it is a good deal / well spec?

Hello all,

I would like your feedback about a used 2022 M240I I found at my local BMW dealer here in Canada.

I would like to know if it is a fair price for it and will I miss anything in term of must have options etc.

Warranty until May 2026 (possibility to extend since it is certified)
Options:
ZMC - Premium Enhanced Package

Full front PPF
+ windshield, side and back skirt.

Doesnt look like a bad deal at $39K USD @ 12K miles. You’ve got whats referred to as the ZTK package in the US, which gets you the unique wherls, larger brakes, and extra oil cooler (unsure about that in Canadian cars).

Yea the car does not list ZTK specifically but I see the wheels, fender extender. I am not sure if the brakes are larger and if there is an extra oil cooler. I would not mind not having the oil cooler because of the weather and road condition we have here.

I will try to find that information.

That car has the larger brakes for sure, compare the front calipers on that car with one that does not have fender garnesh trim and you will see.

Yea I just read that this is part of the M Technology Kit (bigger brakes and oil cooler) part of the ZPZ.

I guess if I move forward with this car I will need to shop for a skid plate.

Turner is the only place that makes a skid plate. You could have one made if you knew someone to do metal work.

But how bad are the roads? You really have to hit something or run over debris to touch it.

You can take car's underbody picture with your phone to see if there's cooler. There's been a lot of threads on skid plate but I have gone 2 yrs, 17k mi w/o a skid plate and have not had any issues.
For me, adaptive cruise is a no brainer option (but I don't think it was available for 2022, at least in US).

Some may go 200K miles+ without an issue but it only takes one large rock/object in the road to destroy the oil cooler and risk destroying the engine. A ~$300 skid plate is well worth the investment for peace of mind.

Yea I'm aware of the potential and exposed oil cooler/rad has been a known risk since F80s M3/M4s.
I personally think it is an overblown issue and not too worried about it. Defensive driving should help too.

Yea I wish it had adaptive cruise contrôle, I like it on long drive or when going to Montreal in the traffic. But I do around 7000 km per year and there is pretty much no traffic where I live, also obviously it is not my family trip car which has adaptive cruise. This car will be used to have fun going to work a some small weekend trips when the we are without the kids.

I am cross shopping this with a new Golf R which in fact I also have a deposite for a 2025… The R is fast, fun and practical but lack the interior refinement of the G42 and coming from an F10 535i I feel like I would miss some luxury and I6 sound track.

Just before the pandemic I was about to buy a new Kia Stinger (or a Genesis G70) but I decided to keep the current car during that unknown period. Now those cars started 7 years ago so they do not interest me anymore.

Garage List
As a former mk7 r and mk7.5 gti owner I wouldn't even compare the 240 to those cars. 230 is equivalent.

Completely agree. The M240 is a different level compared to the Golf R.

Just ask my Wife 😆

I believe the mk8r is more comparable to previous gen m240i. The G42 m240i became more of a GT car. But even that the BMW quality especially in the interior shows.

Mk8r is a different animal than the MK8 GTIs to be fair. I would not compare them much. The new diff really helped the R this time.

I went again to see the car today and I am really sold to it. The brakes are huge! So is the wheel also gap though…

Adaptive cruise was an option in 22 in Canada but there were very few cars that had it. Mine is one of them.

I was unable to get ACC due to the chip shortage, its the only option I wanted that I could not get added on my order. Though, I never use cruise control so I cant say I care, I just wanted a fully equipped car.

Go for it Jayphil !

I have it on my car and it works flawlessly for me so far, I've only had it a few weeks though.

Congratulations! I think you got a very good deal on super nice car.

I love BG, but I'm a little biased. I've mentioned it in other threads, but BG is, by far, the easiest color to keep clean. It almost always looks good.

Enjoy the ride.

Agreed, half of the times I wash the car it’s only because the wheels/calipers need a cleaning.

I use adaptive cruise control all the time on my 100 mile commute to work and it works well even in rain / snow. If it could see further ahead like a human and start coasting when there is a slow down ahead that would be great but that would require high mounted sensors that can see a mile out ... difficult to implement when those sensors would get blocked by pickups or SUVs ...
