Mishimoto Skid Plate

Does anyone have any experience with the Mishimoto Skid Plate, Model
MMSD-G80-21? It states that it requires no modification of the car and do you think these types of plates are worthwhile? Has anyone had BMW deny warranty work if one of these plates is in place? Thank you for your advice.

I have one on my car. I think you just have to personally weigh the pros & cons and figure out which risks you're willing to take.

Dealerships can certainly try to deny warranty work if they think the plate somehow caused the issue. I could see an argument where they claim the plate alters the OEM airflow to the oil cooler.

For me, it was worth the peace of mind to protect the oil cooler. Even if there was a slight edge case where they could point to the skid plate as a reason to deny a future warranty claim.

probably the most popular option for oil cooler protection. i'd hazard a guess that around 50% of the forum has this particular model installed (myself included). worth the price 10x over for peace of mind.

I have it on my car. Install/fitment is excellent. I'm friends with BMW master technician at a dealer and he is the one that installed it/works on the car with the plate installed. Very impressed and zero complaints from him. Multiple people have done it since on other G8x cars after my initial recommendation. Still waiting for my commission sticker from Mishimoto to show up in the mail.

How does this compare with the Zunsport grill? Based in Europe so Zunsport much easier option.
