I can’t wait for the Michelin Pilot Sport S5’s to hit the market available in standard sizes

Michelin can’t bring those soon enough

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and comments. Going to find another one this weekend. I really liked everything else about the car. It really checks all the boxes I want for a DD.

is the Yoko really that bad??
I agree it may not be as good as Michelin, but BMW won't pick a suck tire neither, right?

Very IMO, but... shrug?

People get weird about tires. In my experience, outside of 9 tenths driving, every BMW star tire is FINE. People had all the same gripes about the Pirelli PZero star oems, and they were fine.

And if you ARE doing 9 tenths driving on the regular, you are always replacing any OEM tires, right? Using Cups or whatever.

Lots more long-term tire data in the G80/G82 forums.

Pirellis are the defacto worst as they wear incredibly fast with no performance/grip benefit to match the wear. Yokos are slightly behind the Michelins.

It’s not just about 9/10s .

This is pretty universal ranking regardless of the vehicle the tires are mounted to. I can’t justify ripping off the Yokos to put Michelins on, but if I decide to get another set of wheels I may do just that

I ended up renting a 2024 M2 as an extended test drive. I am confident now that the idiots at the dealership had left the suspension blocks in. The ride in comfort mode is more or less what I expected; controlled and not overly stiff. I honestly didn't even find the stiffer settings that bad. I'd say the suspension tuning overall is very good given how heavy the car is.

Overall though, I don't think the car is for me. It feels heavy and the steering is pretty numb. I can see why many love this car especially if it's a compromise 1 car solution between a daily and a sports car.
