SPOILER ADVICE

I have a M240ix Skyscraper Grey, scheduled to arrive in the next week. First task is to remove the awful excuse for a spoiler on the lid. I'm new to everything BMW. Considering the car color and having the M Sport Professional Package, do I stay with a new improved black or carbon fiber spoiler? Leaning towards the TRE ID-01.

P.S.(entertainment value) - Just for curiosities sake, I got a quote from BMW dealer in Louisville for removal and installation of new spoiler. $360.40 for first hour, $720.80 for two hours if needed.

I did mine myself, lot's of microfiber towels, 3M adhesive remover, and tons of elbow grease. Don't forget to mask up, both the vehicle and your airway (R95). It is a lengthy process, so do you have more time or money? It took me 4 hours just to remove the old spoiler adhesive. Go slow, don't use a wheel, heat and friction are your friends.

The TRE spoiler to me is basic AKA merely okay, but there are far better options. ArmorExtend is the one I should have went with, but I found "The One" after installing it. It is what I wish I would have got. ArmorExtend is the absolute best looking conventional, or "Wicker Bill" style https://armorextend.com/products/arm...g42-m240i-copy

As for color, that's your decision. I don't trust the scratch resistance of the Black colored body pieces, so that's why I went with Carbon Fiber. Throw on a decent ceramic coating and longevity won't be an issue.

Cheaper option:

Appreciate the input. Definitely a sweet looking spoiler. First I want to make sure if gloss black or CF is the best blend with the Skyscraper Grey. M Performance spoiler to me is a definite no.

I’d go carbon fiber over gloss black all day. From a distance it’ll look black and when you get up close it’ll still look black while having some nice CF goodness.

I’m with you on the M performance spoiler.

I remember my last few days to delivery. It finally said “at dealership” so i texted my sales guy and was like “the car is there, whats up?” and he was like “ugh yeah lets plan for delivery in 3-4 days”. I was like “dude you are sniffing glue, Ive been waiting for 5.5 months checking status every day Ill be there in 30 minutes”. I picked up the car that night.

Dang, I would need to be medicated to wait 5.5 months. I placed order on September 6 and the wait has been really hard. Patience is not a virtue of mine. First BMW experience, so I definitely will know the drill next time. Have an appointment with dealer on the 26th for install of 4 Dinan parts. No car and have appointment scheduled, go figure. We all seem to go nuts over these cars to varying extent.

If you plan on doing it yourself I highly recommend getting an Eraser Wheel for a drill. It removes all the leftover residue and adhesive itself without much elbow grease. I did an MP-style spoiler from TRE/AUTOID within a month of taking delivery and the glue was still super tough for goo gone + elbow grease but this took it off with ease. You can also use a fishing line and a heat gun/hairdryer to remove the 'spoiler'. You could also do what the guy above says but that takes 4 hours, and not sure whether you are getting better results. As for spoiler, honestly, you can pick any style you like, quality would be pretty much negligible from any of the big brands or ebay/ali. Since I think your car would have the paint-matched lower rocker panels and part rear diffuser, I think carbon would look great since you don't have any gloss black panels! but can't go wrong with either. GL!

edit: sorry missed your post on already ordering the spoiler.

Advice much appreciated. Unfortunately my luck doesn't favor me tackling this project.Wife says I'm like a bull in a china closet. Being a septuagenarian with chronic back issues, etc. makes it a no for me. Any skilled enthusiast wanting to drop by in Southern Kentucky and help install the spoiler would be most welcome. Southern hostility and a fine bourbon collection.would be perks that's included. Since I'm already having 4-5 hours of Dinan work scheduled, SA gave me a respectable quote for spoiler install in Lexington.

I've never heard of the ArmorExtend brand, and couldn't find much feedback online. Anyone have any firsthand experience with their quality?

Nkiss refrenced the ArmourExtend brand. Website shows many spoilers to choose from. Also website has various levels of quality available. Image on the top shows one of theirs closet to what I was looking for. Spoiler on the bottom is the TRE ID-01 Pre-peg carbon fiber. This is the one I have arriving today. Comparing the two, the upward angle of the ArmourExtend is a bit more than I personally prefer. Designs are similar except the degree of tilt.

My first instinct was to go with the smaller CS style spoiler.

But from the rear, the 'larger' style spoilers look really good.

Has anyone who went with the TRE-01 sized spoiler feel that it looks too much and out of place ?

Conversely, has anyone who has gone with the smallest version feel that they could have went bigger ?

Damn, that's pretty thick. Have you seen this in person ? I just worry about getting something that ends up looking too big and out of place

They weren't available two months ago, they have like an 8 week lead time.

I'm against the A cup spoilers, bring me some DD's!

Some people find odd that the M Performance spoiler does not go all the way on the trunk but for me it is the one the if you look straight back match the lines of the car better.

The TRE spoiler ends abruptly on the side not matching the car lines. The MP seems to continue the car line. See with colored lines what I am talking about. Also the MP makes the bottom straight to match to truck straight lines for a more square look.

On a black car like pictured bellow the TRE looks ok, the odds lines are probably more obviously on other colors.

For the Armor one is obviously to square overall vs the m240i and only suitable for M2 but even that I do not like it.

Yeah but the m performance looks odd off in many other angles that the others do not. First time I saw the m performance i thought it was a mistake and I was looking at a knock off.

Also you ignored that the TRE ID01 ends match the tail lights curve.

All good points. I quickly realized the reason for certain spoilers not reaching the sides of the trunk - to follow the lines of the rear end / trunk.

But as also mentioned - the full width spoilers still look very good. And look good from the other angles.

I'm interested in the full width at this point - specifically the TRE-01.

The low profile CS looks clean, but it might be a bit too small to accentuate the rear end.

Agreed, I was only commenting straight back view but other angle brings different perspective of the different spoilers available.

Also right that the ID01 ends curve similair to the tails good point.

I never seen personnaly any of those spoilers in person since there almost no other 2 series in my area and if ever I see one it will be most likely stock...

Still favoring the MP when I will purchase spoiler but I can understand why some like the TRE ID01 too. I wish I could se a car in person with one of these before deciding though....

This was my second choice over the ArmorExtend.

https://performancespeedshop.com/col...43584736985277

Out of all of the smaller spoilers, I like this one the most.
