The rubber tech that Michelin is using in the PS4s and the new PS5s is just so far ahead of the rest of the competition. Still not minding these Yokos tho lol
There are plenty of Pirelli tyres with decent compounds, not necessarily available widely in North America, though. Pirelli is obviously the leader in F1 tyre tech at the moment, being the only supplier. I’ve used Formula car Pirelli DM slicks on my Caterham, better than any of the Hoosier radial slicks I’ve also used, from a grip perspective.

Both the Michelin PS4S* and Pirelli PZ4* compounds are sub-standard for anything other than a couple of hard track laps, though, as they both overheat pretty quickly when used aggressively. A track orientated tyre such as the Nitto NT-01, Nankang AR-1, from Michelin the Pilot Cup 2R or from Pirelli the PZ Trofeo RS, have much better grip when hot.

Just taken delivery of a 2025 M2, it came with V107s.

I was disappointed on handover, was expecting 4S and hadn't realised there'd been a spec change, but the front end grip, especially in the wet, is genuinely quite staggering. Rear traction seems good too.

So far, perfectly happy...

Sad some people still believe the mythology of driving like a grandma and light breakin is better for ring seating when it's been proven over and over that bursts of hard throttle and moderately hard break in (shorter trips, full cool down between) works and is dyno proven

I'm breaking this in aggressively and it RIPS

Same.. My car was shipped to Port Hueneme in the middle of October. Looks like that batch of M2s received Pirellis.

Various degrees of usage break in the engine. A more aggressive one breaks in it quicker.

My info is an aggressively broken in engine will make max power sooner but will suffer a drop in power sooner, too. How soon depends upon how aggressively the engine was broken in.

The risk with an overly aggressive break in is that because the engine is new and friction is elevated the oil can suffer from breakdown due to excessive heat generated by too high RPMs too high loads.

If the oil breaks down this can lead to metal to metal contact which in short ain't good.

The break in allows for more RPMs (and I think higher vehicle speeds, too) once 600 miles has been reached.

Then at 1200 miles RPM, speed, and throttle are left to the driver's discretion.

And I might add with fresh oil in the engine assuming the 1200 mile running in service has been done.

Ohh come on don't be a hard ass. It's a wear item anyways. Your dealer has 0 control over what tires you get.
