Crazy idea - retrofit the 360 camera system.
So.. this point has really frustrated me about my G87, and honestly one of the few (if any) things that bug me. The fact that the standard 2 series comes with this system and we don't just blows my mind, and I feel defeats the argument that more expensive models get this technology.
I haven't yet seen anyone try this, and I say that in the shadow of the two UK shops that retrofitted AWD onto the G87. It certainly CAN be done, with OEM parts, but the question would be *how*. (yes yes, and how much of course). So I thought to start this idea and beyond the parts and cost, actually would be a shop/tuner/coder that could retro-code all the correct modules and info back into the car. Much like the AWD, I bet it can be done with the rigth source. Does anyone know a coder/tuner that could even LOOK at something like that? Even if I sourced all the hardware, it's a pile of wires and cameras without the coding. Thoughts?

I'd say ask them but don't know how much would get lost in translation. At least it shows it can be done. |

I have reached out to the folks that made that video on IG, and get a one or two word response in return. I haven't found anyone else in the world that has shown this functionality, so working hard to try to figure out how they did it.

They are a business that offers this as a service, so they prob dont want others replicating it. They dont make money from DIY videos. Lots of businesses in asia offer retrofit services such as this. Might be open to offerinng online guidance for a fee but i suggest finding one that is fluent in english. |

I’m on the other end of the spectrum with a G42 that couldn’t have the 360 camera system because of supply chain issues. I’ve been able to find the cameras but no information about how to activate them to work.
Even just the front camera would be a nice upgrade. |

I was curious about this as well, came across that video and left a comment asking what kind of price point we'd be looking at to get this done but no answer.

Found the part numbers for the camera and control module. Found a few wiring harnesses but don’t know if they are the correct one for the cameras.
Would be nice if was plug and play, but would prefer to know it’s going to work before I start buying parts https://parts.bmwoforlandpark.com/a/...w/66_0392.html |

Here are the pics they sent me, and asking 35 times for price was told $2600, just today. I get one or two word responses, 3-4 days apart.
We can guess at some it from the pics, like the mirror bases, though why 4 cameras? Nose, two mirrors and what is the 4th? Also no clue what the small box is on the left of the image. The silver cylinder between the cameras and mystery box.. maybe a bit to cut the hole for the nose? The other work is the coding, who knows what all needs to be done there. I continue to pester them. They have said 'I teach you' about how to install, but getting info is like pulling teeth. I am about to see if i have any friends who speak Thai and is willing to call them.

Thanks for the effort. You always have one of the best DIY videos on YT. I subbed this tread, if you can figure this out, I’m sure 90% of our G87 M2 owners (and our front splitter) will be thankful to you.

The rear camera is standard fit in Canada and the US, as they have been mandatory since 2018. In other markets it is part of the Parking Assistance package, which may or not be included as standard or as part of a bundled package. I expect the 4th camera is for those markets.

I have located a friend of a friend, a F87 M2 owner to top it off, who lives in Bangkok and could call them, get in touch locally, maybe even go by the shop.
I am pulling out all the stops to make this work.

I was able to find a parts list of sorts. This is from a G07 but should be the same. The coding was done with E-sys but I’ve not found what values need to be changed.
And I’ve not tracked down the wiring harness yet. From what I’ve been reading there is n OEM hardness so just need to find the part number. 1 x TRSVC Module 1 x Center Console w/the camera button 4 x Cameras 1 x An OEM Surround View Wiring Harness - The OEM harness doesn't include the 4 SAS wires from the TRSVC. |

Would coding even be possible on LCI G87's? Apparently a lot of bimmercode options are not functional since ID8.5 is more locked down.
I really hope you figure out a retrofit! |
