Has anyone created a list of tools to buy before you start pulling the G87 apart? It might be a useful resource.

I come from a Japanese tuning background, so my toolset is going to be skewed that way. I have a pretty comprehensive set, but would love to be targeted when I build out the rest.

Nothing special needed other than a good metric socket set that includes a range of Torx bits and E-Torx sockets, 1/4", 3/8" & 1/2" drive torque wrenches and torque angle gauges to match the torque wrenches to properly tighten single-use stretch bolts. The spark plugs on most BMWs (and Porsches) these days also require a 12-point 14mm thin-walled socket.

If special tools are needed for jobs such as pulling direct-injection fuel injectors, then they are best purchased when a specific job is being done.

You are starting on a path that will almost certainly have you buying more tools/etc.

Good call. Thanks. I fully anticipate getting a few things. Eyeing a new impact gun. Figured while I was at it… let me ask the community for other add ons. Haha.
