M Performance letters peeling off console lid

Noticed today the letters and M colors are peeling or some have peeled off the alcantara console lid. After I noticed it I checked where my arm rests on the lid, and it doesn't rest on the letters. A bit disappointing for how much this part costs.

Too bad, indeed disappointing. As a side note, the MP steering wheel I had on my F - the blue stripe at 12 started flaking around month 9, and I don't use anything abrasive. So much for OEM quality.

jabcat, did BMW honor a warranty claim on the armrest? Once it started to peel, did you experiment to see if more of the decal could be removed with adhesive remover (without ruining the Alcantara)?

Personally, I like the Alcantara armrest aside from the cheesy "M Performance" decal.

I haven't brought it to the attention of BMW yet, but yes more of the letters come off with just a fingernail. I've got 4 weeks off after tomorrow so I can mess with my vehicles. As long as no outline or residue is left behind, I'll just remove them all & call it a day.

Let us know the results please! I was thinking of doing the same since the first 3 letters have peeled

Lol at the people who knock on aftermarket parts and claim "official" BMW MPerformance parts are any better quality. This is the 2nd MPerformance part I've purchased that had sub-standard quality. The other was a front lip for my 3-series that we couldn't get to fit, yet the aftermarket lip I purchased for 1/5 the cost fit perfectly - go figure.

I'll mess with the console lid this weekend & report back.
