Another condensation victim

I woke up to the condensation problem in both headlights last Thursday, contacted dealer from which I purchased the car from to book in for inspection to be told, they will need the car for all day and as I need a courtesy car it will be the middle of January before this can be done. Questioned time scale and they now have an appointment for next week, with a car. I have sent photos via email but they still need to see the car in person. If this is a known issue why are they not replacing them when it occurs as the above course of action is very frustrating.

I had the O/S replaced last year in May and the same unit failed again once the UK weather turned a couple of months ago. I had it replaced again a couple of weeks ago. Both times under warranty and never any challenges getting it authorised.

Anyone got some issues with dealers refusing or so.
Im fighting my dealer. Was booked for the 30th of oct to check up because i had condensation in both headlights. Now on the 18th i brought my car in to change the headlights. Even got confirmation they ordered both lights via mail. I get a call yesterday that bmw germany declined my warranty case. I was suprised, i complained to my dealer this is not what i expect. I already filed a complaint with bmw belgium and there Financial department. They said they will check up on it.

Both of my headlights on my 24 car are now showing signs of condensation inside so will have to keep an eye on them.

Ah sorry to heat that, seems like the issue isn’t solved with newer built cars

It's only a small amount at the moment so hopefully it will dry out

It’s the second time I’d been told, yes it’s warranty, booked in and then told further evidence is required before it gets changed. Quite frustrating when it looks so obvious.

It was mentioned units are being pressure tested from factory so hopefully less failures in the future. Must be a seriously flawed design though.
new here, but thought i'd register to join in

i've got a '22 M240 with the nightmare adaptive steaming lights

so, if they fail a pressure test then surely that means there is a way to fix the 'leak' ?

Just FYI
If femto unlocked and running a tune, headlights might require coding and at least my dealer couldn’t guarantee that my tune would be safe.
When they have to update a module it runs all of the modules in the car to latest spec..

Also if pressure test would pass for some reason you are liable to pay for all the work being done.
Around 800€ without headlights being replaced, they are an additional 3500€ give or take

As i’m also running rgb drl’s i didn’t wanna take the risk getting warranty denied because of modification or loosing my tune.
They take pictures and video of the whole process and i can imagine they will decline if they see anything that sticks out just to make peoples life harder instead of fixing the real issue.

I just had both headlights replaced under warranty for the second time now, it is a very common issue on the G42. During the visit my car was updated to the newest software 11/2024.37.

If anyone wants to look it up, here are the part numbers for both lights from the repair order: 63115A03E37 and 63115A03E38
The headlights are about 1500€ a piece and require coding, replacing both should take 2.5 hrs.

Local dealer gave me the runaround so I went to the nearest corporate dealership ("Niederlassung"). I have heard that especially with warranty cases they are easier to deal with because they are owned and operated by BMW themselves. In my case they took pictures of the headlights (lots of water droplets inside) and that was enough for approval.

I'll get both my headlights replaced tomorrow. After 10 days of mails towards the dealer and bmw benelux, with no result. I finally got a lawyer involved to send them a letter for not giving warranty on the defect headlights. The same day bmw corporate send me a mail, they confirm both headlights will be replaced.

Gues sometimes you have to push really hard with them.

Rejected claim when car left overnight, apparently this is normal and nothing to be concerned about. Presssure tested and cleared overnight whilst in BMW garage. Advised to take car away and bring back if reoccurs. Fast Forward to now and headlights full of water, covering 60% of lens. Straight back to dealer and faulty headlights diagnosed with warranty covering replacements . Car booked in for 15.01.25.

Garage List
Just had both of mine replaced under warranty, local dealer had the car for a day and picked it up the next morning. Fingers crossed it doesn’t come back.

Just as an update on my MY24 car, it has had some mild condensation a few times over the last couple of weeks but each time it has cleared itself.
I'm hoping this continues over the next few months until the weather starts to pickup again but will keep an eye on it.
