Using a Catalyst? What run group was that?

Hmmmm...I don't see anything dicey in OP's session. Point bys are required and were given quickly. We don't set run groups by car, they are by driver so you get Miatas and vettes. With clear track, the fast cars are sub 1:20. most all of those drivers know each other very well and they are good. I run with them every event. That was probably an advanced group session with a bunch of instructors mixed in.
Yes, that’s a catalyst.

The run group is the, ‘fast’ group or any car/driver that can consistently do 1:50s on that track. It’s Rocky Mountain Motorsports Park which is a private members only track with an allotment of public track days.

It’s great you’ve got a good group at your track days. That’s certainly not the case in my area. Lots of noobs in street cars driving like assholes. Check this out at Strawberry Creek, a private track, but no membership required.

That wouldn’t be members of the Red Deer Sports Car Club, would it? Supposedly they are on probation there, as Jay leaves the hiring club to apply the rules and they weren’t being strict enough.

He is always keeping an eye on track etiquette and will reel in those who are continually abusing it. He prefers clubs to enforce the rules, our club (CEAG) is very strict, both of those transgressions require a talk with the technical delegate to explain what you did wrong, 3 times with tyres off the track or 3 spins in a day and you are done for the day.

These were just a bunch of street noobs. I like Jay and how he runs things. But rad torque is just too tight for my car. Have we met? Did we do our race license at Rad Torque a few years ago?

I don’t think so, but I have the green Caterham when at Rad Torque, RMM, or Strawberry Creek. I normally get to RMM 4 times a year (we have a special allowance for up to 5 events there per season as CEAG is a corporate member), 4 times at Rad Torque and twice at Strawberry Creek, but pretty well only at CEAG events, as we pay for a whole season at the beginning of the year for up to the 14 or so CEAG events that are run.

Nope, never run into you. It’s odd these guys at the OPs track all knew one another. I never see the same guys more than once or twice a season. Granted the OPs track isn’t that technical with a lot of good passing lanes, passing anywhere just cant happen on our tracks. I took the M8 to a sanctioned race at RMM last year. Crazy mofo. The guys were respectful and stayed away from me. I stayed out of the fast guys ways. lol. No dicen’ it up in the M8.

I think it is a case that people may bump into each other more at public track days.

In the CEAG club, we have a fixed number of members at around 120 people, most events about 50 turn up, so I see a lot of the club members often, but very few other track attendees.

We have some fairly fast members who are around the 1:40 mark at RMM in road cars, plus some other exotic material that sometimes makes it out (Maserati MC12, various Ferraris, Lambos, McLarens, etc), plus some members with track orientated cars such as Radicals or Furys. We also have a miriad of Porsches, BMWs, Corvettes etc and more mundane sporting Japanese or European cars.

Last year when I blew the Caterham engine at the first RMM event, I ended up with my son’s backup car (a La Grand Tour) - a Toyota Echo with extra camber and slicks, only had to brake at turn 2, 6, 10 and 16 in that car, but our club etiquette is good enough to be on track with any of the other much faster cars. Didn't want to take the G87 out with it not being broken in until later in that season.

Haven’t figured out how to join your club. Where would I apply? I must say, not many infrequent visitors to RMM are going to hit a 1:40. I’ve seen the guys on YouTube running that fast but they are outliers. 1:45 is a very respectable time in a streetcar.

GT4 unfortunately runs rings around g87 that has stock wheels and tyres setup. Probably gt4 did not have decent driver or for a reason they were holding back. GT4 is so more lighter and better weight distribution helps especially on technical and not that fast tracks. G87 is a big pig...
For upcoming season i have new square lightweight wheels with 305 tyres, femto plus custom tune plus around -100kg of weight reduction. This gets us back to Porsche territory
