I saw that you shared a service information bulletin about rattling noises in the interior of G42. I've been looking for the cause of rattling noises from the passenger side door panel/passenger seat/B-pillar area for over a year and a half. At least I think it comes from this area. Maybe it's coming from the underbody and I'm looking in the completely wrong place? It only seems to occur when there is no passenger in the car. That's why I suspected the seat. But I couldn't find anything there either. My car has been to the garage 5 times and nothing has been found because the noise only occurs sporadically, usually after a long period of standing overnight and when the outside temperature is below 15 degrees Celsius. It completely takes the enjoyment out of the vehicle. After you shared a service info bulletin, I wanted to ask you if you have access to the database. If so, could you see if there are any starting points? My dealer is now refusing to troubleshoot. I would like to get the problem under control. It sounds like a metal spring is vibrating and hitting plastic or glass, please see attached video. Thanks for your help! Best regards from Austria. Mike Rattling Interior |

Check the door panel, door trim, footwell area, B-pillar, front speakers, bottom of the seat, dash, etc. for any loose trim. You can also try fully reclining the seat back and raise/lower the seat to see if the noise goes away or conversely put the seat all the way forward. That will help rule out the seat or identify it as the culprit. If all else fails, recommend you bring your car to another dealership and also file a complaint with BMW in your region for poor service. Good luck. |

Going to another dealership is the best advice here. Complaining to BMW is a waste of time, they will respond that they have no influence over the actions of their contractual partner and cannot help in this matter.
