You can test this theory by folding your rear seats down and turning the heat settings to 'HIGH'. This will allow you to simulate summertime conditions for the trunk and cabin components.

Referring to rear. I can imagine there are three different connections with different torque spec: Top mount to body, shock top end to top mount and shock bottom end to control arm.

Checked the manual links and no 2024 available.

Does this look right?

25 pages and no one has posted the noise.

However, I doubt it’s what you are hearing.

I would gladly contribute with a video clip, but I know I have other more annoying noises that will mask what you are all trying to diagnose. FML.

Given that the sound is coming from rear right, it's probably differential noise from the M sport diff. This guy breaks it down very nicely.

Capturing audio using a cellphone microphone optimized for 85hz-255hz is not likely. Bass frequencies are usually somewhere around 20hz and at reduced volume. You'd need a dynamic microphone to pick it up.

really sad I have to pay to fix a sound in a new car but no regrets If I never hear the noise again

Its not. At least not the one i had on my car.

For me It was the typical sound of a broken shock absorber,
Like something loose in the trunk

It shouldn’t be “for you to fix”. It should be a warranty claim.

I 100% agree as I've still got 18 months left but it was never going to happen as they just fobbed me off so I took a chance , it's ridiculous I agree.

A lot of people found out replacing the shock absorbers does not fix the issue. BMW then tells the dealer to put in a different shock absorber mount from a 3 series: 33 50 6 889 267
This seems to fix the noise, a lot of people in a German forum wrote that this fixed the noise completely. Some had both shock absorbers and mounts replaced, others only the mounts and it seems to work.
Got these 33 50 6 889 267 upper mounts swapped and they seem to be effective. Have been driving with them couple days and do not hear the noise anymore. I have got little paranoid with the noise so not saying yet that the noise is completely gone but very least it is a huge improvement.

Anyway still believe the shocks are the culprit but different stiffness of upper mounts makes them more silent.
