'22 240i drive mode buttons not working when cold

Have my '22 M240iX for almost 3 yrs now and first time I've noticed this: In cold weather (like sub-30 degrees F), my console drive mode select buttons (sport/comfort/adaptive) do not work.

Can change drive modes via voice control (and likely via idrive-haven't checked), but when it's hella' cold, the console buttons don't work.
Later in the day/afternoon, when it's warmed up a bit, they seem to work again. Don't recall this happening in past 2 winters (but PA is colder this year).

Warmer days, everything seems fine all the time (so far......).

Anyone else? Resolution?
Thanks-

I have the same problem, sometime happen even when it is not cold. Something similar happened with my sunroofs once it opened but I was not able to close it many tried and waiting a bit…

I need to see what my dealer can do when I go for my next oil change.

Had this happen about a month ago.
I restarted the iDrive system by pushing and holding the power volume button. Probably 30 seconds.

Haven’t notice the issue since.

If you're talking about the buttons next to the shifter, those are touch buttons. Are you wearing gloves?

Nope---they are "press"/click buttons and I've done it with gloves, without gloves, etc.

They are press/click buttons but they are capacitive buttons.

If you press one, you will notice that all 3 are pushed down, the system to know which of the three you have pressed, it uses capacitive buttons.

I'm referring to the buttons here, if you notice it is just one giant button.

He’s right. While they will work when pressed with thin fabric between your fingers and the buttons, try something thicker. I folded up a duster and although the buttons can be felt to click, they don’t work.

Other buttons on that console are conventional.

This has only happened a couple of times with the same set of buttons. Also did a reset and has not occurred since. As far as gloves, works with some and not others. Sometimes a rubbing action on the button will help with the recognition.

Have not noticed it being a temperature-related issue.

WELL, it usually takes a bigger man than me to admit I was wrong.....but....I WAS WRONG.
Thank you---they ARE capacitive buttons! Guess I never noticed in past 2 winters that the buttons only didn't work when I had gloves on (global warming--NE hasn't been that cold past 2 years).
Seem to be working just fine now......when I take my gloves off! Thanks again-

So these buttons are capacitive on the face of the button? Besides the fact the way that whole row of buttons operates, what's the point? How much did they save versus having a switch under each button.

***Edit*** A quick scan of Reddit states it is just cost savings. So I will rephrase my question, why have that row of buttons push down as if it is a button when it is not actually a button?

Still weird.

It stops an accidental press of the button from things like jackets (or too many hot dogs) pressing the buttons next to the seat.
