Bimmer Remote Review
Hey All,
Just wanted to inform fellow G87 drivers of something I actually found some pretty good value in. I ended up selling my carbon buckets and replaced my seats with Recaro Profi SPG XL seats. I had the work done at European Auto Source out in SoCal and unfortunately they weren't able to code out the seat errors, but recommended I use bimmer remote (as they've used them before with other clients). The process was super easy and honestly painless. I paid, we chatted over whats app. I had a laptop with an enet cable. The whole thing took less than 30min. Here is my review post a track day at Steets of Willow (1/18/25): Gearbox/Transmission CS/CSL Flash: This one solved a big issue for me, which was upshift delay at redline. When I would be on track and hit the rev limiter and then upshift, there would be a noticeable delay. This has been resolved completely which is huge for me, as I track my M2 monthly. The shifts also do "seem" quicker but honestly the shift speed was never really a big issue for me. DSC Flash (CS/CSL) I'm sure there is a difference but since I drive on track with all the nannies off, I couldn't notice anything. I also drive pretty tame on the streets so nothing to report here. Steering Flash (CS/CSL) This one is by far the most valuable and by itself would have been worth the $230 price tag. You now have feeling in the steering wheel! No more vague feeling or "numbness". For me, this should have been the baseline for the M2 but wasn't. The steering wheel now provides feedback and information to my hands. Crazy. It's not mind blowing, it's not incredible, but its very good or what it should have been from the factory. I think of it as bringing it up from 30% -> 70%, instead of 70% -> 90%...if that makes sense. Rant: It's pretty insane that software solves this issue. Differential Flash (CS/CSL) Honestly, once again, could not tell. During my track day I was testing some Maxis 200tw tire and was running an undersized tire (265-35-18) so the car would slip with any throttle input. Does it do something? I think? Suspension Flash (LCI/CS/CSL) Once again, couldn't really tell or it didn't have a noticeable effect to me. Summary For $230 if you value steering feedback, and not having the car delaying shifts at redline, its a no brainer. Yes this will probably void your warranty if something breaks and BMW digs into it. The software versions will be different.

I noticed the shifting points the most after I had the flash done. I think, as others have said, the car shifts (up/down) closer to what you’re hoping/needing at any given moment. I freaking LOVE the ZF8 implementation in this car. Not one single regret going auto.
The steering does feel better, but to me, it isn’t a mind-blowing difference, or even hugely noticeable. Sometimes on these things, going back to stock is when you really see the difference. I would say the steering definitely seems to stay on-center more with less center micro-adjusting required, but it’s a subtle difference, for me. I really think I’m going to let the car receive a cloud update, overwrite the flash and see how the car drives afterwards. Not joking. I’ll then pay the reflash cost, but my curiosity will be satisfied. And, I need more time behind the wheel at the limit. I’m still in break-in.

Tried this solution and was good for my car
I decided to do this because my AT G87 M2 had problems to pass all the power. I have the racechip on position 7, 300 cel DP and complete exhaust line without EPF.
On street, I usually run the car without DSP, with position 5 on the traction control because I like sometimes to have a nice angle... But I was fighting to pass the power and car was somewhere very hard to control during floor accel. So I decided to try this solution. And I find now the car easier to control. So I am happy with this solution. I believe that the setting of BMW on G87 is good for stock power but then when you free the HP of this S58 engine, it is making the car hard to control. I am tracking sometines on track day and this problem was less an issue as tires are hot, good grip on tracks etc.. But on dayly driving on road, the power is now more "under control". BMW should have delivered the stock car as it is now. |
