Need Some Advice
Hi everyone,
First time poster, I was wondering if any of you have any advice. I have a bmw 1 series 118i 2016 and last week when I went out in the evening and after about 10 minutes I noticed the heaters weren't working and where just blowing out cold air. About 5 minutes later I got a warning message up on the screen saying the engine was over heating and to stop immediately. So I stopped and called the RAC, he came out and he connected it to the computer and it was showing as the heat management module failure. So he changed some of the pipes so that the coolant bypasses the module so that the car wouldn't overheat, so that I was able to drive it home although the heaters still weren't working. I booked it in at the garage this week, and it came back to me yesterday. They've replaced the heat management module but the heaters don't seem to be working properly still. They get warm but only really lukewarm not like they used to be at all and it takes ages for them to heat up to that lukewarm temperature as well, and then last night I've noticed that I'm unable to check the oil its just grey'd out as if i've just turned the engine on or have the clutch depressed even though i've just driven a decent distance. Obviously I'm going to phone the garage and raise these issues with them but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before with there car or can offer any advice as I'm not that clued up with cars really. Thanks! Last edited by archiebrizell; Yesterday at 09:50 AM.. |

Outside of being properly bled following opening up the cooling system, your heater core may be plugged. If so, it needs to be back flushed to get the sediment out.

I presume so, because the engine isn't over heating any more and there is no warning lights coming on. It's booked back in to the garage on Monday so not going to drive it until then just incase. Hopefully they will be able to fix it but I just wanted some other peoples opinions as I'm not very clued up on cars at all really. thanks for your reply
