Only saw the ESPN version of this but sounds like the Mavs were done trying to get Luka to stay in shape and were not going to give him a monster contract next year. Conditioning concerns and the injuries that go with them.

Yeah but he is so fricken good. I'm usually not a fan of teams letting their best players leave but maybe time will show us all the Mavs made the right move. I didn't think about his injury history. He always seems to have a bad knee or something.

Yeah, but he's only 25.....is this something that's gonna get better or worse? Quite a decision by the Mavs.

A huge decision lakefront ! I’m not sure this was the right move for the Mavs, especially considering how injury prone AD is. Granted, he brings more of a defensive presence to Dallas, but I’m not quite sure he is the answer. Also, his allegiance has always been to LeBron. Who’s to say he even wants to be in Dallas. I’m still shocked by all of this!

Also, not quite sure why The Mavs didn’t ask for more in this trade?? Max Chritie, and a 29 first round pick?? I think they could have gotten more in this trade. Possibly another first round pick, Dalton Knecht or Austin Reeves. Just my $.02!!

AD is just as injury prone, if not more. Other teams weren't offering more for Luka...it is strange.

This is a great move for Lakers for the future, a young player to build around. This does nothing for them this season. Lebron and his son need to leave LA, that experiment is embarrassing. Apparently he had no idea about Luka trade. Hopefully this is a sign Lakers are in planning stages of Lebron exit or retirement. LA will forever be Kobe's city. Trade Lebron while his old ass still has some value.

I woke up and couldn't believe this. Mavs went from possibly returning to the finals this year to maybe not leaving the West now. Who knows what version of AD the mavs will see this year.

This trade seems way more one sided than the 2011 CP3 trade that was cancelled by Stern.

NBA is a failing league. They are currently not in a position to veto trades. This is the most attention the league has gotten in years.

He's going to get exposed for his zero defense
Celtics exposed it last year, but the Mavs were a MUCH better defensive team than the Lakers are now without AD
