I installed some R888R’s and I have a slight rubbing issue on some turns and hard bumps.

Tire sizes are

305/35/20
285/35/19
Toyo R888R

I’m currently running spacers so the tires will fit. I tried with no spacers and the front wheels wouldn’t budge. Anybody else had issues with these sizes?

I ran 275/35/19 ps4s on 19x10 +11 fronts with the MP HAS max dropped, no rub but only had 2-3mm clearance. Swapping to 285/35/19 conti extreme contact sport 02 would have absolutely rubbed with the set up. Went with with the r44 front fender liner clearance kit, 285s are fine with plenty of clearance to spare. 305/30/20 EC Sport 02 on 20x11 +8 rears fit fine with no changes needed.

The fender liner might work. I’m not even lowered. I was thinking I can do an alignment to adjust for a few mm.

Just cut out the fender vents and install the mesh piece for peace of mind for $80.

I'm not sure how everyone missed this, but its gotta be the 35 series tire you have in the back. 305/35R20 is way too tall. You need to be running a 305/30R20. Since the R888R doesn't come in that size, you need to need different tires.

That’s the only size available that was wide enough for my racing preference.

The rears aren’t as bad as the front though. I received my 5mm spacers, I’ll try installing those in the front and install 12mm spacers in the rear.

Pretty sure spacers will make it worse. Unless your rubbing on inner suspension components.

What type of racing are you referring to? Road course?

This. I have 15mm spacers front & rear with stock tire sizes front & rear. Did not rub with the oe PS4S, but just switched to Conti Extreme Sport DWS06 (stock sizes) & rubbed so much the first time backing into my garage that it cracked the vent on the fender liner. Ordered the R44 screens (ridiculously over-priced) - really should've ordered them off Aliexpress btw, but wanted them to arrive faster.

No more rubbing though.

You are right!! The diameter is too large, the rears are rubbing also due to the large diameter. I might have to bump back to 285/30 series.

You could stick to 305/30/20 and go with Nittos or Cup 2s.

I don’t want to throw these tires away, they were expensive. I might just get 285’s for the rear and sell the 305’s on eBay.

R888Rs aren't really a great track tire. There are much better options.

I would just sell the R888Rs and get a better track tire with the correct sizes.

Think my brain assumed as you wouldn't normally run a 35 on 20". Good catch.

Through various conversations with experts (mates at a bbq) I have been led to believe that the R888R’s while not the best track tyre, are the best at hooking up in a launch.
So when I take delivery of my new M2 I have no intention of tracking it as I will love it to much to beat on it so hard BUT, I would want to enjoy the thrill of feeling ALL of the power and acceleration potential by not breaking traction when accelerating hard off the lights from time to time
With that being said I was thinking 305 R888R’s, but now hearing they don’t come in a 30 profile can anyone make any recommendations from experience of a tyre that can provide the grip to launch hard on the street and not break traction?

With traction on and stock power, traction is not a big of an issue. With that said, I would go with Nitto 555R2s regardless of what sizes the Toyo come in. Keep in mind the Nittos are more of a true drag radial (whereas the Toyo has more track benefits). One think to keep in mind, for daily street driving, the Nitto has a softer sidewall that has somewhat negative effect with cornering.

I will also add the 555r2 is a streetable daily driver drag radial. Can handle rain no issue unlike most true drag radials. I ran them in both 305 and 315 on my prev Mustang. Great at hooking power but behaving as a dd.
