After a long stretch of clear but cool days, rain is in the forecast and maybe snow for Sunday. We have not had a single snowflake yet.

We're finally in the promised 40F+ window for a week. I'll be glad to finally see the snow go away.

Just had the worst commute in my life this morning weather wise. Blowing snow with zero to 5ft visibility over farm fields in the pitch black. Mostly only able to judge where the road is by signs and ditch snowbanks. A co-worker who usually arrives a 1/2hr later said he passed 5-6 cars in the ditch. There were none when I went through.
Even now at noon it's sunny one minute and then a blowing roof rattling whiteout the next. At least it isn't ridiculously cold. edit: added some snips.. I don't think I can embed a gif or video without deteriorating the quality even more. Last edited by freakystyly; 01-29-2025 at 05:51 PM.. |

We got 3" over night.
Those who hit the road after 06:30 had a bad commute this morning. I left 5 minutes earlier (05:55) and made the same time, 30 minutes. The GM normally get in the office at ~06:40, today it was 08:00. Now as unbelievable as it might sound, this was a "snow day", so the school bus didn't run!!! I had 1 snow day in my life back in 1964 and it was because we had 3' of snow in the driveway |

Another cold one and more snow on the way. Yesterday I had to do some unscheduled house calls in some remote areas with unplowed country roads. The X3 handled several inches of snow without missing a beat. It was actually kind of fun. I didn't even have to break open the emergency fruity wine to calm my nerves.

Mid-40sF today, 50s tomorrow, and supposedly 65F on Monday. Last February we had several 60F+ days. I was hoping for a repeat this year, but it looks like this one is going to be all we get for the time being.

More rain is supposed to be coming this week and I have roof damage from the big winds we got a few weeks ago.
Roofer coming this week to inspect and give estimate on repairs. Just texted him asking if he can come earlier to cover damaged/exposed areas before rain comes. |

Rain in the forecast next 6 days, years since there's been this much driftwood on the beaches

Sunny and 73°F right now with a forecast of 75 for the high. Insurance adjuster and roofer coming tomorrow. Hopefully roofer’s coming to cover the damaged area with a tarp since he too busy to do the repairs tomorrow. I’m also calling other roofers; all very busy because of the wind and the rain. Supposed to have three days with rain this week.

Miserably cloudy and cold, with the high reaching 26 F and low last night in the single digits. I went outside with a tape measure to check on something, and froze a few digits off in just a few minutes.
Meanwhile at our tree farm down yonder, it's a bearable 63 F and sunny.....

Last time I answered this question in a different subforum I was dragged up the flagpole as a "winter tire absolutionist."
I spent the weekend in Killington Vermont and had some fun driving around in thicker snow, that's for sure. The little kid in me enjoys turning around in the ski area parking lots every single time. |
