Yes, I was kidding but I think Hyundai makes dependable and sensible cars in the more affordable price range. A friend of mine has an Elantra with 140,000 miles. It still runs like a top. However I won't be trading in my F87 for one.

I am a fan of the M2. Regardless of F87 or G87. I show them both respect and love. The 1M walked so the F87 could run. The F87 ran so the G87 could sprint.
All I can say is, everytime I pull up on a F87 with my G87, they show some love. And equally from me to them rightfully so. I’ve also sent a few F87’s to gapplebees happy hour LOL. Not sure if that helps your decision. |

He probably can’t afford it. Unlikely he has an F87 either with that attitude. Typically people with an F87 show some sort of respect to their counterpart. |

For a weekend car, I'm leaning towards buying another F87. For a daily, the G87 seems like a way better car. The price delta is not that big in Canada bettwen the two actually (low miles examples).

I've just sold my lovely low mileage M235i manual, I've always wanted an M2 since around 2018.. Not driven an F87 M2 Comp. I have too wondered whether I should save some money for F87 instead of G87, but test drove a G87 and the thing is a weapon! So alive and if the F87 has harsher suspension than the G87, then the F87 is not for me as a daily. Even in comfort mode the thing is very taut, but also not a crashy as my F22 with Bilstein damptronic B4's was. Well sorted suspension.
The view of the blistered rear arches in the wing mirror is something else. The shape of the G87 only makes sense in the flesh, it does not photograph very well at all. I love the rear end. The front, not so much. So I am on the hunt for a lightly used one. Just not decided on Auto or Manual box. Last edited by Matthewricha; 02-05-2025 at 01:08 PM.. |

I've owned all 3 of the cars you're talking about.
2015 M235i 2021 M2 Competition 2025 M2 All purchased new. Mine were daily drivers for the most part, though I also have done one HPDE track day every year since 2007. Have not tracked the G87 yet, but I did 3 track days each with both the M235i and M2 Comp. As far as ride harshness, the G87 in Comfort mode is somewhat softer than the M2 Comp, but don't expect a Mercedes-like ride. Your M235i had a more comfortable ride than either the F87 or G87 M2. The G87 has a much more upscale interior than the M2 Comp. Much more tech too. Performance-wise, not a huge difference, especially if you're just using it as a daily driver.

I'll always scratch my head at these types of commments, especially made in the company of those who actually chose this vehicle. If we wanted the F87, we would have gotten them, so these comments won't change any minds. It seems like it's more about the insecurity of the people making these comments, trying to elevate themselves by attempting to knock others down. It's either that or they honestly think their opinions matter much more than it actually does. Either way, be better than that.

If not a manual, go F87 for DCT.
If manual, go G87. |

Yes if F87 I would definitely go DCT. I hope to book a test drive of a G87 Manual soon. |

Never thought this post would have created such a thread. I’m shopping hard for a good deal on something. I am attracted to shiny new things….so the G87 has my initial vote. My budget however could benefit from the right low mileage F87. Different than most, I’m looking for the right mods already done. G’s seem to have mods for days. Love seeing what everyone is doing. Both F & G can’t put the power down out of a corner w/o sliding the rear, so they both seem fun to me. I’m track oriented even though 95% of my weekend car will be street fun with the car guys. I have watched about every review there is on the G87 and they are all positive. It’s the better car. And I love the looks. And prices don’t seem to far apart on ‘23 vs low mileage F87’s. Great spot to be in. Good luck on your search.

I love F87s but they're old news. Simple as that.
Most of us agree that E30s, E34s, E36s, E39s, E46s, E9Xs, F8Xs, and many more BMWs/non-BMWs alike are all beautiful and enjoyable enthusiast cars. Then why aren't our garages flooded with only those cars? Because to us, they're old news. Before ordering my G87, I gave the F87 CS a good look. Lots to love. Then I thought about how I'd feel paying $100k out the door for a car with an interior that virtually matches the one in my 10yo daily driver F36. Pass. I've never bought a new car so it was a no-brainer for me. YMMV. |
