Another solid reason to recommend DINAN over others is for high-altitude, 91oct customers. This is a niche DINAN has tons of intimate experience with. Others don’t focus in this area because it’s a smaller portion of their customer base.
Tuning can be finicky/challenging/dangerous up here with that combo running generic OTS 91oct tunes.

So what are the differences in the Dinan PCU and the Dinan DINANTRONICS X? Running E10 with MAD intake, Milltek downpipes, and Milltek x-pipe midpipe. I which Dinan unit is preferred? How does the Dinan differ from the JB4? Is running E85, or a mixture, preferred with these tunes? I searched but what I seem to find is old data or not for the G87.

Neither unit is going to completely remove the CEL associated with DP's (assuming catless) nor are they designed to handle ethanol mixtures. If you are after support for ethanol mixes or supplemental fueling (meth, etc) you would want an alternative product. |

PCU doesnt currently have a CARB EO but that is the desire. Remains to be seen how quick that process will take though given some of the long waits we currently see across the brands. We have little concern of it passing once it does get to that point thoguh given our own in house emissions testing for EPA requirements.

I understand the unit can be removed before smogging, but when do you expect to have CARB approval? These crazy cops here in S. Cali want to inspect your car everytime they pull you over now.

Not even going to speculate as we have had an EO get pushed through in 6 months (albeit that was a fluke) and others that took years because of constantly shifting requirements. All I can really say is the process has been started.

Have yet to see a direct review publicly from an M2 user so would second the request for impressions. =)
G8x M3/M4 PCU Review is one of the more in depth reviews I have seen thus far though. |

No upgrade automatically voids your warranty, that’s not how it works.
If you tune your car and the tune breaks your engine, BMW won’t cover the repair under warranty. But if you tune your car and your radiator starts leaking, that’s unrelated to the tune and still covered. Dinan products are tested, proven, and safe, so you don’t have to worry about anything breaking. But If you want extra peace of mind, we offer the same product with Dinan’s warranty for an additional cost. Let me know, and I can get you set up with either option.

DINAN makes just about the most most conservative, safest products out there.
They have so many dealer connections/ relationships in place, they couldn’t jeopardize that with “on the edge of safety” products. They make them to be “install n forget”. Do they make the most power possible? Probably not. I’d prefer to be set up the best for success vs worrying about crap breaking/blowing up. Not saying things can’t happen with any stock or modified car, but I’d prefer to be safe. Especially in my situation with high-altitude + 91oct. I’ve had experience with the “other” big piggyback company and never got my issues solved by them. Never again.

Whether you get the extra Dinan warranty or not, Dinan is about as safe as you can go

Mike: have you or anyone else experienced a possible BMW software install recently which is causing Dinan and maybe other piggyback tunes to start throwing a Check Engine light relating to the Manifold pressure not correlating properly with the throttle position sensor? OBD readers can NOT clear this code, only removing the piggyback does. BTW I have the older Dinantronics Sport piggyback on a G42 which has worked fine for over a year.

So I installed the Dinan PCU and I must say that I can definitely feel much stronger pulls. I have done some other modification as well with the PCU, so I can say what it did by itself. I can't seem to find a Dyno in N. Alabama, so we just have to wait for numbers. It was super easy to install but installing the Boost Sensor chewed my arm up like a Pitbull.
I was having a slight "chug" in the power curve, so I reached out to Dinan and they are wonderful to work with. They looked over my logs and reviewed the data and nothing really jumped out. Even though the logs looks okay, they had me return my unit and sent me another one, all within 3 day. I ordered thru XPH, so I had to go through them for the swap. These guys are exceptional too, Mike and the support team got me taken care of. Just want to say everyone was top notch. The Dinan rep on this forum and Garret at Dinan were extremely helpful. Also, I have Milltek high-flo cat downpipes and I did not get a CEL. I never got a CEL period. |
