Why does my ICE powered G87 think it’s an EV?
Why does my ICE powered G87 think it’s an EV? I was driving the other day with the Adaptive Content screen on the display and every time I let off the accelerator and coasted the rear wheels turned blue and the little lines formed under the wheels and the Charging Battery message kept coming on. Obviously the car isn’t hybrid or EV so why is the software acting like it does?

It shows that the battery that starts the car is charging. A lot of cars do that, not just the M2. If you let off the gas and the car is coasting efficiently enough, the power that the spinning wheels get goes into the battery.

The alternator is variable output based on excitation current as well as rotational speed that allows variable load on the engine. The DME and IBS (battery sensor) determine when to recharge the battery when energy recovery is more appropriate than just constant battery charging at cruising speed.
