32 year old DJ - Yay or Nay?
Ok, please help me settle this, guys.
Preface: There is a Russia 'invades' Georgia thread in Politics/Religion sub-forum and i've been pretty active in that thread, along with couple of other forum members. Obviously it is a serious situation and everyone has their point, but that's not what im here about. So, someone claiming 30 years of Defense/Intelligence experience, in both active duty and as a contractor drops the following phrase: No lies were told to anyone concerning WMD except those that the Iraqis told the world. Sorry, but this is the dumbest thing i've ever read, so i tell the guy that his 30 years of intelligence experience are a failure of epic proportions. Maybe a little harsh, but this is what i think and i tell it like it is. After that we have the following exchange (cliff notes): him: This from the 32 year old DJ? me: Bravo, sir, you FAIL again with your INTELLIGENCE. DJing is what I do in my free time him: So, that would make you a 32 year old DJ, wouldn't it? me: I fail to see how this is a bad thing? him: Obviously me: Why don't you explain? I am all ears. him: I would rather not hijack the thread. Give it some thought though and you may be able to figure it out on your own... or maybe not. So for the past 20 minutes I've been sitting here and trying to see how being 32 year old DJ (he made sure to make an emphasis on my age) is a bad thing. All I could come up with is only pro's of being a DJ: I do what i love, I play the music I love, I get to meet new people, I get to travel... this list can go on and on. Cons: ??? I cant see any. And I can't see how age has any role in this. What do you think?

I don't see anything wrong with your age and being a DJ whether is a part time or full time gig. As long as you enjoy it that's what counts.

It is truly sad that you are looking for self-affirmation in an on-line poll.
Neither of the available options adequately expresses my thoughts on the matter so in the manner of Barry Obama in the Illinois State Senate, I vote "Present."

This just reassured me that your age and your experience did not make you even a bit smarter, but since you are claiming that being a DJ, 32 year old DJ, is somehow a bad thing please elaborate. You did not want to hijack the other thread, so i created this one just so you can explain it to me.
So far, you have been nothing but a weak, cowardly and lame. Defend yourself.

nothing wrong with doing what you love in your spare time - especially since you obviously make enough money in your day job to get a nice car, etc.
he was implying you're immature, to avoid the argument re bush lying to america

Don't worry about what others think of you. You are who you are and need to feel good about yourself - no need for others' affirmation of who you are or should be.
Unfortunately, when it comes to politics or religion discussions these days, intelligence and mutual respect evaporates quickly and it all turns into a pissing match. IMO, that's why we are at a standstill as a nation at the moment. No easy answers, unfortunately. I feel like most people have to go through some sort of catastrophic experience to realize that we are all in this together. A kick in the nut like another 9/11 perhaps? ...I hope not! $0.02 from a 49 yr. old, ex-DJ |

I accidentally voted for the crawl under a rock and die option! I didn't mean it. I don't see what age and occupation / hobbies have to do with an intelligent perspective.

DJing is a noble endeavor up until the time you get a life. It is a job best suited to college students or possibly those who could not make it to graduation. The fact that you still do it and enjoy it shows a lack of mental and emotional security. In a manner very similar to this incredibly sad poll. Now, if you would like to understand why it is that no lies were told by US officials regarding Iraqi WMD, I will happily explain that to you. That is if your fragile self-esteem can handle it.

Just got to say one thing.. DJ Tiesto is in his 40s right now, his prime being his early 30s lol. Age is just a number, if you're on top of your shit, people are not going to know how old you really are. I'm 19 but most new people i meet think im in my mid 20s.
Bro spin as much as you want and dont let people on an online community bring you down.. House music FTMFW!! |

I can assure you that if our past thirty years of intelligence were a complete failure, we would have had more than one nine eleven type attack.

I was actually talking about ganeil, not US intelligence in general.
